Want to change up the sound of my exhaust

Hey, I just bought a 2008 Mustang GT Premium and it already has an after market exhaust on it. It's a JBA axle back. The cats are still on it. It sounds good but it's a little too quiet for my taste. I need something a little more aggressive. I've been thinking about buying Muffler Deletes but I don't want to make it too loud where it sounds bad. I've listened to countless youtube videos on different exhaust but you still really don't know how its going to sound in person. Should I keep the set up I have now and switch to an off road H pipe, or is there another exhaust that will give me some more sound and be more aggressive? Should I go with a Muffler Delete set up? I would really appreciate any help and input anybody can give. Thanks

When I had the '07 GT Vert, I had a local shop build some muffler deletes. We used an 18" long by 4" diameter chrome tip going to the factory pipe. It was low cost.....under $100.....and sounded great. The rest of the system was stock. By using the bigger tips, it gave a nice deep rumble and really talked to you under acceleration.

Was it really loud though? I don't want it to be obnoxious like if I drive by somebody and they say "man thats way too loud"! I don't want it just to be loud with no class. Would running Muffler Deletes be louder than keeping my JBA axle back and running an off road h pipe or vise versa???

Throw an off-road H (or X) pipe in it. It'll get louder and it is one of the cheapest ways to get more sound. If you have inspections, it will save your cats, only put them on for inspection.

My Boom Tubes are MUCH louder with the off road H pipe. It should be perfect for you.

i had an slp loudmouth on my 2003 gt which has a resonator instead of a muffler, similar to what he is saying about a 4" tube that tapers down to the stock 2.5" pipes. I now have a 2006 GT with SLP and there are no mufflers/resonators at all so that would be like having a true muffler delete. Both sounded great, and neither are obnoxious but definitely sound good and loud. I personally liked the sound of the 2003 a little more than my current 06 but am still very happy with the set up. (and i did the youtube video thing first too but you really can't compare the actual sound to anything you hear from the computer/stereo, it always sounds a lot better in person) I'd vote to delete the mufflers first, it'll be cheap and if you don't like it, spend a few bucks and you can get some different mufflers welded in place no problem but i bet you'll be happy with the sound of muffler-less exhaust

What about HP gains? Would I benefit more from removing the cats and keeping the mufflers on??? Right now I have 4.10 gears, intake/tune, and a hurst. The car runs amazing. I just can't get the exhaust sound right. Both the muffler delete and the off-road h pipe are cheap ways to go which I like but which one? Would doing an off-road h pipe make the car pull harder in the upper RPM's?

Ok after looking on the Internet for three hours and watching video after video Ive decided to go with the Muffler Delete. The whole strong odor of gas thing with the off-road h pipe helped me in making my decision. I don't want that. If I ever go with long tubes I'll do the no cats thing but for now I'll go with no mufflers. Man I sure hope it's not going to be too loud! I'll let y'all know how it goes. I'm going to do it this coming Wednesday.

That's more than I want to spend or should i say more than my wife will let me spend. Lol.... What if I do the muffler delete then maybe put some bullet style mufflers underneath the car? Will that be louder than my JBA?

You can't go wrong with either stock catted H and muffler delete or O/R H and JBA. A friend of mine had O/R X and JBAs. At idle and part throttle it sounded awesome but was a little raspy at higher RPMs. When he installed hot rod cams, the sound improved. I have a vid of his car before cams on a dyno. Please disregard the laser light show coming from the back wheels:

Here is O/R H and JBA. This setup sounds much better.

I see you posted your JBAs for sale. You thought they sounded similar to MACs. I really don't think so. JBAs are not as deep sound as MACs and will not drone nearly as much. Don't get me wrong, JBAs do sound good. In fact I had them on my car for nearly a year.
