anyone ever get tired of their mustang?

I laughed out loud when I saw this.

I've had mine for ten years now. Last year, she brought in a lot of compliments, probably more in one year than I've received in the previous nine.

My mistake was I found a new hobby: motorcycling. I put 5100 miles on the bike last year and maybe 800 on the Notch. When it's sunny out, I'd rather be out on the bike...it's an experience that simply cannot be explained.

I've had three original Broncos and thought, well, maybe I could find a guy who's tired of his EB and has as much $, blood sweat and tears into his project as I have into mine and we could swap headaches.

Apparently there's no Fox love over on the Classic Bronco Forums.

Worst case is I'll hang onto it and continue to show it. I'm in the process of polishing the t-body and EGR plus the original valve covers for it.

hmmm a reef coupe would look good to my reef GT

the fox mustang on average is around 20 years old or more, its not my daily driver, but the body of a fox mustang is what first caught my eye, then of course the 5.0 and all the things you can do to it; bore it out, change the internals, put on the "bolt ons", ect. And if you owned more than one i say thats a pretty weird thing to do if you didn't like the car. But i get what your saying - sometimes I look at the ol' mustang and say "what could be sitting there instead of you?". Anyway the fox body is my littl baby and no one said she was gonna be perfect, its takin some work even to be considered reliable, but im not offin my baby.:bs: But no really i just can't seem to bring myself to let go of the ol' fox

well the first one I let go due to severe rust issues. I loved it. Great car and a fun toy and my daily for the 3 years I had it. The second one was bone stock and I sold it due to an offer I couldnt pass up. The third and current one I scored for under a grand. PO couldnt keep it running. I had it up and running in an afternoon for 85 dollars in sensors, fluids, and filters. the downfall was it was HIGH mileage and I was on borrowed time. I ran out of credit and the motor finally gave up. I had a shed full of parts that I had been collecting since I had my first fox so I had most of the items to build an HCI car already. Part of me really loved the building process and imagining what I would have at the end. Maybe its that I have spent every available moment I had working on it( single parent, working full time, and going to school so there arent many free moments), but the end product cant hold up to the expectations I had for it. To be honest, even though the car is up and running it needs some time to dial in the suspension and get the engine just right. After some more time behind the wheel I could take it all back and say its the best car ive ever had. Its not a show car and never will be. I didnt hide any wires, paint the bay or add any trick pieces to make it look better(wheels dont count) its not a race car and was never envisioned to be. My choice of heads and intake were budget oriented, sure I could have gone with some monster heads, a hot cam, and a short runner intake, but I want to still have street manners. My end goal was a fox capable of daily driving that would be faster, more maneuverable, and more comfortable than a stocker ever thought of being. Time will tell what happens. It could very well be a case of being too close to the project. Given some time away I could go out into the garage one day, make a few adjustments, make the car run like a raped ape and never look back.

Never said that YOU or ANYONE else sucks because you like going to car shows. I said I HATE car shows and I gave my reason why. I am me, you be you at your car shows, I ain't stopping ya. Go knock yourself out doing what you like, and I will do what I like. OP asked for opinions, I gave mine, you don't like it............tuff. I don't hate my car because I am always working on it or because it just sits around at times. Never will.

Jesus Christ, calm down chief. Lots of show cars can run better than most hicks at the track, too, but you don't see others putting 'em down.

I think the drag crowd could learn a thing or two from the show crowd. I get so tired of going to the track and getting held up because some redneck and his half ass drag car puked fluids at the 60' mark, and dripped the rest of the way down the strip. 30 minutes later the track prep crew finally gets off the asphalt and everybody can start racing again.

Show car guys don't do things half ass. No details are left overlooked. Toothless Jim-Bo over there is using rotted 20 year old radiator hoses and now everybody trying to drag race is suffering for it. A show car guy probably wouldn't have done that.

This is getting way off topic, but I think tech inspection should be more concerned with your engine size and/or power adders versus car weight than just ET and trap speed alone. If a dude has a 408 in a stripped Fox and the thing is running high 12s, that should be setting off some red flags. It likely means the car is put together with junk parts and was done half ass and the thing is a ticking time bomb every time it makes a pass. Those are the cars that should really be scrutinized by the tech inspection crew.

Well there are half-assers and jokers in every crowd. Probably just more likely to find them more rampant on the track because of the nature of the activity and it's tough to always have everything in tip-top shape.

I got very sick of my project...doing a v8 swap...This is how she sits today...
