So I was surfing Craigslist the other day, and saw a local Stanger down in CT selling some parts. He listed a solid billet Shelby brand strut tower brace for $75obo. I looked on AmericanMuscle, and low and behold it is a $300 brace. I called the seller, and he said if I came to pick it up he'd take $60. I also told him that I had a magnetic tail blackout that I don't need since my parents got me the CDC one for christmas, so he said he'd take it for his '11 and knock $10 off. I get down there, and he's the epitome of a great Mustang guy. Nice garage, beautiful 2011 red GT, and an old fox body project. We talked cars, and then he showed me the brace, and it was BRAND NEW. Not a scratch. He even offered to help me install it right then and there, which we did, and it fit awesome even with my factory plenum cover. I gave him the blackout, and pulled 3 $20 bills that the ATM gave me out of the wallet. He said he didn't have change, and then told me "well, I guess the price is $40 then, have a blast." and shook my hand. I was :jaw: right then and there. I know I've done things like this in the past when I was selling some parts, because I just don't have the heart to tell somebody no when they want it, and I know what it is like to work with a limited budget, but this guy really hooked me up! Anyway, thought you'd all like to hear about it, as its hard to come by a true class act nowadays. :hail2: THANKS LES!

Cool - now you you have a fake Shelby STB to go with your fake Boss 302 stripes on your poser Mustang Astro Boy! (remember how you savaged us poor slobs who dared to try and fix up our lowly V-6 Mustangs?)

:stupid: Nothing fake about it there champ. Straight from Shelby, no different than one that says Stack Racing, Ford Racing, Maximum Motorsports, or BBK. Not claiming to be a Shelby owner, just the owner of a Shelby STB. It is common practice in the Mustang world for manufacturers to put their logo on a part for recognition purposes, so that others can identify and possibly purchase it. More or less free advertising. You'd know this if you had a car that was worth modifying and actually garnered aftermarket support. Nice try to start a fight, when you have something useful or even borderline intelligent to say, feel free to come back, now back to your "poor slob" attempts to fix up your "lowly V6".

What's fake? Do you see any Boss 302 logos? I'm pretty sure it says GT on the fender. Inspiration is not imitation, and since there is NOTHING on the market that exactly matches what I have done, your argument is moot. On the other hand, making your V6 look EXACTLY like a GT with a GT REAR VALENCE and dual exhaust, and GT BREMBO WHEELS is posing. Inspiration from a 40+ year old classic isn't imitation, or is Ford posing with their new Boss, and maybe Saleen should recall all their heritage cars and Parnelli Jones edition Boss inspired cars.

In fact, ignoramus, Shelby production vehicles did not include the bar I bought because it does not clear a blower. It was specifically made as an aftermarket piece for 2005+ Mustang GTs. But please do continue, I love when people speak from ignorance so that I can slam the door of truth in their face.

I really don't give a crap if he is excited. This was more to go "hey look, a really decent Mustang guy hooked me up" to give props to the seller because in a world of people getting screwed, its nice to be reminded that decent people exist. And unlike my original "why drop lots of money into a V6, it doesn't make sense in terms of performance", his post is far different with "you're a fake, I'm just here to insult you and start a new fight just to fight." I didn't go into that thread looking for a fight, I offered my opinion and got lit up like a firecracker on the 4th of July by a bunch of dudes who thought they were all that with dressed out V6s. It's one thing to look nice, but most of them try to look fast, which they AREN'T, ergo POSING, which I just think is pathetic. But feel free to keep encouraging trouble makers like Storm, before you know it we'll have tons of ignorant Napoleonic morons running around here diluting what has until now been a solid online community.

And I don't argue with everyone's opinion (this reply non-withstanding). I may not agree, but I can tolerate difference of opinion. What I can't tolerate are people attacking me out of some misplaced sense of insult, or folks like that Makoto guy who just run around spreading misinformation, twist a discussion about a 2010 V6 into how a 2011 V6 is God's gift to the Mustang world and how my 2010 GT, the pinnacle of Mustang GTs at the time I bought it is somehow a POS because newer and better tech has been released ( I guess according to him anyone not running a 2011 should just scrap their GT and buy new, sorry original 5.0 crowd, classic crowd, 4.6 2V crowd etc.), and then start attacking my personal life, profession, and making homophobic remarks that I just won't tolerate because members of my family are part of that community and don't deserve it. There are plenty of places where I have disagreed peacefully. See the "HIDs on the new cars are UGLY" thread. I've got 1800+ posts of nothing but positive interaction with the legit members of this forum, asking questions, presenting facts, and trading opinions. When I run up against a trouble making turd like the ones I have had the misfortune of dealing with lately, you better believe I'm going to A) defend myself and B) try to clear up all the misinformation they spread because there are too many people on the internet, and on this forum, who believe the first thing they read. Misery loves company, and now Storm, Makoto, and all the other guys who have bruised pride because they bought a neutered Mustang thinking it was the same diff as a GT and found reality can all hang out together, hopefully in the V6 forum where they belong.

A Shelby brace that was made ONLY for 05+ MUSTANG GTs! If GT owners weren't using it, it wouldn't exist retard. Would you prefer I go grind off the Shelby logo that the manufacturer put there? Or would I be posing as well if I put a BBK brace on my car with the BBK logo because my car isn't a BBK special production? I guess Roush, Steeda, Shelby, and Saleen better just shut down their aftermarket parts production activities and just stick with production vehicles, because buying any of their parts must be posing. Getting so sick and tired of these mouthy noobs. 6 posts and looking for a fight...

Wow...wtf with people on here? The guy spent 5 minutes helping me undo 8 13mm bolts and I should give him another $20 on top of giving him the blackout that he wanted after he offered to let me take it for $40? That would be somewhere around $250/hr labor, and even the steepest shops around here don't get that. Also take into account I drove over an hour to go pick it up, so basically getting my gas money back was appreciated. I am really starting to get sick of this crowd on Stangnet. Last time I did something decent and non-self serving for someone, I didn't expect anything in return. I've gone to Mustang friends' houses and spent hours helping with repairs or installing parts I sold them well below what I paid and didn't expect nor receive anything but a "Thanks" and that's all I needed anyway. When I started in the Mustang world, I had a friend who turned mentor for me who used to do work on my car for hours, track me down parts, and take the time to teach me what we were doing all for a 30 rack of Bud Light. Seems like more of the douche bags on here could have used a Mustang guy role model like that.

Implying that I did anything indecent by accepting a favor that took a few minutes while we were talking cars and by accepting the seller's offer of $40 and the blackout is just plain insulting. And just to let you know, after we exchanged cash, I pulled two damn near brand new Steeda seat belt pads out of my trunk and gave them to him for his son's fox body project as I just replaced them with leather ones to match my interior, because that's what DECENT people do when they have something they really don't need and can help another guy out. I really can't believe a post of "check it out, somebody did me a solid" turns into "you're an azzhole for accepting a favor"

Dude, sounds like you both made out pretty well on the deal. I wouldn't worry about the other people, it doesn't sound like either of you got screwed and you both walked away happy. Got any pics of the STB on your car?

Hopefully soon, the engine bay is a little dirty from the winter so I wasn't really wanting to show it off but I guess I can snap a quick pic.

Oh, and it got a bit better last night, I won my weekly house poker game and since a few extra players came, the pot covered the cost of the bar. Feelin' like Charlie Sheen! WINNING!

I'm not a big fan of dressing cars up to look like other cars but I think people should relax a bit. I don't think Astro is trying to make people think he is driving anything but a GT. Stripes are stripes, regardless of whether they are "boss style" or not. The Shelby lettering on the stb is no different from any other lettering on any other addon. If he put a Roush stb on would people accuse him of trying to impersonate one of those cars?

Great deal for a great part.

I feel ya on the engine bay stuff, mine looks HORRIBLE from all the snow we had lol. Were you able to tell a difference at all from adding the STB? Or are they mostly just for looks?

LOL

Hey Zero, why don't you just go F off?

Arcwcb- can't say I really felt a difference, but I haven't been really loading up on the Gs with sandy wet roads and such. This car has always felt significantly more firm in the chassis department than my previous fox-based platforms. It is nice to know that any potential flex is eliminated. The dress-up aspect is a plus as well, but I was really looking for function on this one. I also plan on adding an A-Arm/ K-member brace in the future. I'm big on bracing after I twisted up my first 87 LX.

Seriously people, stop trying to perpetuate this problem. Astro started this thread with no malicious intent, both parties who had problems were obviously contacted by a Mod, so let it go. This site has just gotten ridiculous with all this crap. STFU and stay on topic. This goes DOUBLY for the new people to the forum. If you only have 1 post, and it's intent is to start problems, what good are you doing? Try to make Stangnet a better place, not laugh about how your FIRST EVER post is to keep this going.

It would be REALLY nice if a Mod would go through and clean up this thread and get rid of some of these posts.
