Disc brake conversion

Been spending all week in the garage working on installing my drum to disc conversion kit. finally got most of the under car stuff done today, went to install the new tie-rod ends..... Hmm thats wierd the new ones are twice as thick as the old ones. Call CSRP, "oh you were supposed to buy the 300 dollar steering kit as well". My jaw just about dropped would have been nice if I were told that 6 months ago when I ordered all this stuff!!, another 300 on top of what I already paid for whats supposed to be a complete kit and I'm just find out about this now?? I am so annoyed right now. My car is siting on jack stands in pieces while I come up with another 300 bucks to buy some more stuff for this front end that was supposed to be a simple swap.

that sucks bud, hang in there, not sure what year is your Mustang but their kits average around $600 so this is 50% more money that sucks

so their tie rods fit fine into their spindles but are too big for your sleeves right, what if you use your old tie rods and put spacers in their spindles, is that nutz or can it work
 
Correct my car was originally a 6 so it has smaller diameter sleeves. The new ends are much thicker. A spacer would be neat, but I dont know if that even exists. What sucks is I would of had no problem spending the extra money in the first place, but it's not mentioned anywhere on the site. In fact I can't find this setup on thier site at all to even order it, or see what parts are involved.



By the way. I also added this to the notes section of my original order, which is what is really annoying me right now.

Fyi. I marked my car as an 8 cyl as it has an 8 going in it, but it is originally a 6 cyl setup that i am replacing. Just in case that makes a difference

You should come here first. We'd have told you the 64-66 6 and 64-66 V8 had totally different steering. In fact, the Mustang dealer I use (Glazier/Nolan) would have told you, because a) They actually work on these cars, b) Selling more parts never hurts, and c) They don't was customers to have rude surprises during the job, such as what happened to you.

The original post is a perfect example of how it is not useful or fair to air ones dirty laundry on the forums. The facts are seldom heard. It also allows respondents with an ax to grind, and undisclosed associations, to make snide remarks. The fact is that this kit was purchased several months ago. The order was miskitted with V8 outer tie rods, not the adapter type used for 6 cylinder 65-66. This was explained to the purchaser today in response to his phone call. I also offered our 6 to 8 cylinder steering linkage upgrade. He said he intended to order it so I left the matter at that. He indicated no displeasure with this until later today in an email. He is entitled to, and I have offered to replace the outer tie rods with the correct type under warranty. I don't understand the rant.

I am glad you guys got this sorted, I took Tony's original post more like hey I set a weekend aside to do this and I got the wrong parts, whether it was his fault or the suppliers fault didn't matter at that time, you aint got the right part, so you aint got the right part, it just sucks either way and I understood his frustration, been there, had that happen to me, but I like the CSRP kits so I am glad you guys have your ducks in order

My criticism was really intended as a chide to the OP, who should have been more prepared to understand what he was undertaking. Had he done more homework, he'd have known the steering on his car was incompatible, dangerously so, with the V8 components. The last line of defense here is a sales rep who asks the "is this a V8 conversion, and do you have the V8 steering linkage" question. If he ordered electronically, of course, this is not a possibility, and the onus is on him.

His post does not indicate the matter was resolved to his satisfaction. Nor does he indicate that there was an error in the original kit, which you had offered to rectify.

I have seen the CSRP kits, both in the box and on the car, and they are excellent. Even the way they are packed is outstanding.
 
Denny got back to me last night, he is a stand up guy, I was majorly pissed yesterday. I was in shock when we were on the phone, after it appeared I needed to spend 300 more, i got upset after the call. I wasn't mad at you, I was mad at the situation, I did a ton of home work and budgeted this project out as best I could. Trying to keep it in that budget is becoming frustrating lol!
 
The hardest part of any job is not knowing what you don't know. Makes ya feel blindsided. We've all been there, that's why forums like this can be so helpful. I certainly have made my share of mistakes. I once scrapped a 65 fastback I later realized had a 9" rear. And I'd run out of time trying to list ALL of my mistakes :doh:

I was in shock when we were on the phone, after it appeared I needed to spend 300 more, i got upset after the call. I wasn't mad at you, I was mad at the situation, I did a ton of home work and budgeted this project out as best I could. Trying to keep it in that budget is becoming frustrating lol!

That's fine, and I understand the frustration. That said, I take customer service and our reputation for value and quality very seriously. Taking your phone call early Saturday morning, and answering emails all day Saturday is illustrative of this commitment. I just don't think it is constructive to air ongoing issues on the forum. The facts are seldom presented in an objective manner. For example; the fact that your ordered and received a V8 kit was not disclosed. Not a big deal, I understand that the web site's user interface can be a challenge and mistakes are made. I gladly correct these errors, regardless of the cause.
 
Yup, it's all good, in fact I just sent you an email with my billing info to order the full steering kit, if I am building this thing I want it done right. There was obviously some miscommunication between us, it happens in every business. But one thing I can say is your brake kit is in fact well packaged and the parts are top notch. Every other part of it has gone together perfectly and and as designed.

The only thing I did add on my own was new ball joints as the boots on my stock didn't hold up to my pickle fork and hammer very well. Lol

Thanks for the great service and conflict resolution. That is the hallmark of a good business. Taking an upset customer, resolving his issue and having him come back again. Whereas a lot of companies just tell you to pound sand.

But as a suggestion, you should add a note to your website or add another kit number that includes the steering kit for 6-8 upgrade guys like me.

Dennis is a very responsive dealer to work with and his products are a great value and high quality. Sounds like he made it right.
I have dealt with many parts houses that have the attitude of not even attempting to make it right regardless of who made the error.
