Yeah, everybody thinks I'm out to hate on the world in here. I said the truth, and I also said that I can understand why he doesn't need two 400 HP power monsters in his life. In the brakes thread, I said the truth as well, that I got my ass whooped up and down over something completely functional and appropriate for my GT because it said Shelby, and if that was the going sentiment around here, he was in for the same with those brakes. I in fact love those brakes and have been eying them for a long time. If indeed it was just a bunch of douche bags insulting me regardless of if I said I put a shelby brace on my car or I put a Ford Racing CAI or
magnaflow mufflers as you claim was the basis for their attack, then I think the onus is on them for picking a fight, not me, because I could have started a thread that said "the sky is blue" and gotten lit up. They came into my non-provoking thread in which I was sharing a score and a nice little car story with the intent of bashing me with nothing to go on except trying to make me feel like shyt. Some even went as far as to attack me personally because I didn't hand the guy more money than he asked for.
If you read all of the threads you mentioned carefully, I didn't start by bashing the V6. I said exactly what I said above, that it was not the best platform to start from with power performance in mind. And I was referencing the 2010 V6 in the thread you are bringing up, AteUp. OTHER members twisted that into an argument about how 2011 V6s were awesome and that my GT was suddenly some kind of piece of crap because ford released the 5.0 motor, along with personal attacks on my profession, personal life, and a slew of other insults. I'm not going to say I didn't retaliate, and I sure did throw one guys car right under the bus, but not after he took a monster truck to mine for no reason. There are quite a few people out there who think "a mustang is a mustang" and can build anything into a road pounding tourqey street beast. Now, I doubt that this guy is one of them however, because he clearly knows his way around a power plant looking at his project car. HOWEVER, he asked about mods with a
next to it, so I'd assume he's looking to give his car some giddy-up. Since the 05-09 V6 motor isn't much to talk about, I pointed him in the few directions where there might be some gains to have with his car, rather than dumping money down the drain with a cold air intake, upgraded exhaust, tunes, etc...which all revolve around that motor. Upping his
suspension, brakes, wheels, and tires can all improve that cars potential without tossing money away. If he starts asking about power, well, all I can say is that the V6 will hold him back, therefore he might consider a V8, and the last time Ford released a Mustang V8 not attached to the GT nameplate was the '93LX 5.0, so yeah, I'm gonna respond with "you might want to consider starting with a GT." Somehow I don't see that coming, nor do I expect him to be disillusioned into thinking he can make that V6 hang with his fairmont on the dyno because he clearly has experience with cars. He did, however, state that this was his first Mustang, so I'd like to start him on the right path. The guy clearly knows what he has on his hands, even he said we'd probably be thinking "boring."
Now I said nothing different to this guy than I did to the others, and I don't seem him snapping back out of some napoleonic wounded pride position. I told the guy in that other thread the EXACT same advice, that if he was looking to mod for performance, he was starting behind the 8 ball, but if he just wants a nice ride then go for it, but beware making a GT clone. I'd say the same thing to a GT guy going "I want it to look just like a current super snake" and warn him to get a flame suit to go with this Fobra badges. That guy clearly stated he wanted GT factory
Brembo wheels which he then bought, and that his next move was likely dual exhaust, which requires a GT rear fascia and is a GT style hallmark. Sounds like the start of a GT clone to me. He better get used to the phrase "no, it's not." Some people have decided that means because I have styled my car after the 1970 Boss 302, a car I have never even seen in person, let alone have a chance to own, that I must be posing be cause ONE YEAR LATER than I started modding my car in that fashion, Ford decided to release a car under the Boss nameplate that, IMO, looks less like the classic than mine does. I never said I was building a 2012 Boss clone, I am building a heritage inspired Mustang GT that looks nothing like it. But, the immaturity level has skyrocketed around here, and people are apparently just itching for a fight. I don't remember even a 100th of the attitude and bickering back when I was in the fox 5.0 and 4.6 new edge forums, and honestly it's giving this whole S197 crowd a bad rep in my book, which isn't fair to the regular, reasonable guys posting in here.
