project 94' gt cheap stang'

I would run 285's on the rear if you are really worried about rubbing. I have 315's on mine, removed the quad shocks, and the only thing close to rubbing is the ebrake cable. I dont know my backspacing on my wheels, but they are 10.5's from American Muscle for 94-04 models. Most of the rubbing issues seem to come from those who drop their cars down really low. I just have BBK springs (1.5 inch drop I think), so I dont have a drastic drop. Congrats on the engine firing right up. Am I right in assuming you still have the stock injectors and MAF? I figure thats what you mean by "I'll do the injectors, t/b, etc this weekend." Did you get a chip, or just running the stock computer tune?

thanks for the advice on tire size...mine only has 1 inch drop springs and no quad shocks so i may be o.k. with 315s...i know they look mean tucked under there! I do still have the stock injectors and mass air...got some 24lbs and matching meter. Still on the stock tune..i knew i needed to get all the mechinical parts i was planning to run on there and then tune to that set-up. I also, have no idea what chip to get. Any advice on that stuff would be helpful...i kinda built the whole thing on the advice of people had already done this...i'm o.k. with carbs and flat tappet cams but i don't know much about computer controled stuff!

well...its kind'a hard to say but this thread must come to an end...i can't keep posting info about project cheap stang because the car went up in flames late yesterday evening. I was on the way home from filling the tank and about a 1/4 mile from my house it back fired and stopped pulling. It would only idle so i rolled to a stop and tried to rev it up with no results. finally it cut off so i tried to start it back. After spinning it over a while it started and seemed to run normal. I took off easy and just as i was about to change to 2nd it backfired and died again. The car was in the middle of the road so i ran to my house to get a chain and the truck so i could atleast get it out of the road and when i got back it was flaming! Oh well, it was just a car. The part i hate is not so much loseing the car but loseing all the research, cash, and time i put in it! It was fun while it last though!!!

o.k...so heres the deal...i bought another stang today to start all over with. Its a 95 5.0 5 speed like the other one. It has a b303 cam, cobra intake, and long tube headers with off road h-pipe and flow masters. My question is this...should i use the cobra intake or the typhoon intake off the other car? Should i use the b cam or the tfs stage 1 i just bought? How bout the headers...keep the long tubes or use the mac equal length shorty off of the old fire ball? Thanks.

Use the TF cam! The B cam is hardly anything bigger than stock. Just my 2 cents tho... And as for the intake, well not sure I've heard the Cobra ones are really only good for more low end torque and that's about it, I may be wrong I dont know a lot about those let alone the typhoon. Good luck with your build tho and whatever you use you'll still have fun, it's a stang! :nice:

You need to look ahead (no pun intended :D) about your head choice

I'd do the Typhoon over the oem Cobra if you go with better flowing Aluminum heads

I'd do the TFS over the the old school b cam

Without a doubt ... LT's over any kind of shorty's

o.k...so i'm about to start the build up on project cheap stang 2 (lol..nothing cheap about this deal). i need more oppions on what parts to use out of the afore mentioned list. I also, ordered a quarter horse tuner to try and make all the mods alittle safer this time. Lets here your input...i wanna build the best combo i can with the stuff i have. Also, the current 95' i'm working on still has the stock air box...will a cold air be worth the money? I guess i'm comparing hp gain to the consequences of a back fire with the cold air. One other thing...i'm gonna have a bunch of after market and stock parts once i get done, so if you need parts just hit me up and i can see what i have. Some stuff could go now. Thanks.

still looking for those opinions...i bought new gaskets friday for the head swap...hoping to do that this week in the evenings. Also, just a short list of what i've got done to the car already...new window motors, cleaned interior (it was bad!!!), installed tail pipes(man what an improvement), tinted windows (that was a flop...going to a pro for a redo very soon), reverse glow gauges, swapped the pro 5.0 shifter for a steeda, got the radio working, new billet upper and lower grilles, and set the timing and idle speed (tps set as well). Now for the future mods...torque thrust 2 wheels ( 17/9's and 17/10.5's), lowering springs, cowl hood scoop, custom c-stripes and paint, gt40 head swap, cold air intake, install the quarter horse and tune, 5" tach, fab a 3 gauge panel for the din plate and install glow shift gauges, hood pins, and may a billet interior kit! Who knows where this will go...a pro charger would be awesome...or twin turbos ( i know where two are...that would be different for sure)!
