What shift light do you guys use and where did you mount it?

Thinking about getting a shift light before going to the track because I can't see redline in the dark with the Speedhut gauges. Only the numbers and hash marks light up blue.

What are you guys using? How hard are they to program? Is setting shift points more complicated than I'd think as far as knowing what RPM to set?

Was thinking of the Raptor.

Anyone know the difference between these small ones and the bigger ones besides being half the price?

Any pics of it in action? That sounds like a nice idea if it works...

I too would like to see how this works.

Nobody has commented on actual setup though. Do you tap into power/ground over near the PCM so that the wires are all together? Where do you set the shift points? Redline?

Came across this.

I don't think I would need a dual stage...I'd probably break something trying to do a real launch haha

Are these just simple non-programmable ones? How useful are they? I like the price and size.

Probably just end up getting one of these.

I am currently working in New York, and the car is in Arkansas. But I can have a buddy snap a few photo's.

The shift light has 2 botton's on the side of it. You will just push up or down to get it to the number you want. 55 on the shift light = 5500, 62= 6200 ect ect. The shift light comes with detailed instructions. You will tap into a wire on the PCM.

As for where to set the shift point. It depends on your mods. I would set it at around 5800-6000rpm.

As for wiring the power and ground, that one is all up to you. It's personal preference.

Thanks for the info! Mods are in the sig if you have any further guidance. Now, for the ricer question. Which color do you guys think would look best for the housing? Black or silver? Getting the blue LED to match the gauges above.

I need to get my wideband installed too :(

How accurate is it since it's tapped into the PCM? People say the stock tach is inaccurate, so does it match the actual rpm or the stock tach?

Yeah I like it being in the A/C vent. Plus when people ride with you and all of the sudden see your A/C vent light up, then you shift, then it lights up again and you shift, it get's pretty funny. All my friends were like "WTF is that?"

You always drive at redline with friends in the car? ;) Where do you run the wire out of the AC vent? I'd really like to see this setup. Just bend it around and come back out near the front of the shift light? Then down and under the radio?

Easy to see out of your peripheral vision? Is it bright at night since you can't really take the cap on and off?

Sorry for all the questions haha

Haha, usually when someone rides in the car that hasnt rode in it w/ me spraying, they end up talking me into spraying it.

I set mine up just like the person did in that link above. You can see it very easily out of your peripheral vision and can still see it easily during the day time.

You cant ask to many questions, everyone has to learn one way or anther :nice:

I know the cars are different but I also use my aeroforce interceptor in my a/c vent. It allows me to set the gauge to light up if it hits a certain number in whichever parameter. For example I have it set to light up if my a/f goes past a certain number currently. It isn't a direct-in-your-face light but you'll notice it.

Ive never heard of one of them. Do you have any more details on it? Maybe a link to where you purchased it?
