Hi all! I think I have 2 high flow cats on aftermarket 2.5" H-pipe, and Flowmaster 44's with 3" tips welded to the tailpipes.

I just got my Flowmaster 2.5" tailpipes and I'm wondering about replacing the mufflers with something a little less noisy perhaps. The drone is very loud at 2,000rpm and this car will be used on long hauls (6-7hour highway drives) so it would be nice to have it seem a little more tame lol... Any suggestions, sound clips? Many thanks...

Sorry I have no video of the sound that can give a good idea, best I have is:
YouTube - Sitting at idle
Previous owner's video (not mine and yes I removed the cobra badges) lol
YouTube - Just bought this thing...

Stick with straight through/turbo style mufflers for lower drone at cruise speeds. Another thing i've read is if you run slightly different length inlet pipes into the mufflers it'll cut down on drone but i have nothing to back that up with. My Magnaflows are about as civil as i've ever heard at cruising speeds, while still having enough growl to sound good. I don't have to yell to talk to a passenger or on the phone, and i don't have any carpet or sound deadening in my car either so that should say something.

I have the Bassani exhaust in my lx with cats and it has a serious drone around 2K which is tough with 3.73s b/c it means that is right at 40 mph in 4th and between 65-75 in 5th.....:notnice:

I just got the car and need to figure out what my options are because an hour or two on the highway like that could be pretty painful. I have done some sound deadening and it made the car quieter but there isn't much you can do when going past the 1900 - 2200 range.

I am wondering if a different muffler can solve my issues or if that is just a function of the gearing and anything is going to be loud right at 2k... I have always been a BIG fan of Magnaflow and could see doing a set if I knew there was going to be a difference.

I've heard the thrush super turbo oval mufflers, they are very quiet and would remove any drone but the issue is all or nothing (all drone + nice sound vs no drone + no sound)...

After some research (google) I've heard good things about Borla.

I went with these and I love them. No drone, great sound and quiet cruising. Don't get me wrong, you still know it's V8; they are quiet enough when you need them to be, but will still get plenty loud under WOT.
