Hey guys. I just got my plate today for my stang and I am leery about putting the plate on just yet. I want to get some sort of backing to the plate or something so that the plate doesnt scratch the paint while jarred from driving. Anyone have anything in particular that they are using?? I was thinking some of that 3M foam insulating tape and attaching it all over the back of the plate, but I didnt know if there was a solution for this already. Thanks folks!

There is no jarring of your plate when it is firmly attached by the 2 top screws. The area underneath the plate will get dirty but that's a whole different problem to over-obsess about.;)

OMG!
I never thought there would ever be anyone more CO than me. My son says that I'm the only one that he knows that uses "RainX" on the inside of his windows too. Unfortunately, I can relate to what you're worried about. How about going to the drugstore and in the "Dr. Shoal's" foot section, pick up some mole skin. I'd attach that to the back side of the plate before I mounted it. The stuff is pretty cheap and who cares if it leaves residue on the back of the plate.

hahahaha, when I had my 'Stang I would always remove the plate when I washed it to make sure I got all of that done. I forgot to put it back on once  and didn't notice for a few days but luckily neither did anyone with blue and red lights on top of their car.

I don't think the plate will scratch but I don't think the moleskin on the plate is a bad idea either.

Does it rain on the inside of your car?

Putting anything as a cushion between the plate and the car MAY cause dirt to collect between things and then you would get small scratches as it vibrates from driving. Mine does not move nor does it touch the car enough to damage it.

Rain-X on the inside.....bet the car never sees rain anyway if he is that worried......

Umm...what? I have Rain-X blades, and washer fluid. Works fin on my '06 GT.

LOL! I don't know, using rain-x on the inside is pretty bad ;)

I went out in the garage tonight and shined the interior up for the first time (looking sweet I might add), and say the plate and said "Screw it, im just throwing it on" because I havent found anything useful at a number or stores I have gone to. The result: It is sitting on the carpet above the rear seats and in front of the back window. Lost the nerve. I looked at it atleast, but I didn't notice pre-drilled holes.

I just took a picture of my plates and put them into photoshop and cropped to the correct size. Laminated it with a thick plastic and use that, seems to be ok.

I did notice the corner of my lamination peeling at one point, so I made a new one, and it has been good ever since.

Reminder to make a new one every time you need to update tabs. You can do that on the PC as well, saves you a little money.

I would guess that's illegal as hell?
