well i guess i might as well start my build thread since i started tearing the car apart. So far i have a shop ( and spare room in the house btw) full of parts that i have been collecting over the past few years and i'm trying to go ahead and get some progress done for as budget minded as possible.

so far i have my 357w, stock crank and rods forged pistons with a 13cc dish,
box stock eddy victor jrs 60cc combustion chambers,
trickflow r nonbox intake, with elbow adapter, and PP 75mm throttle body,
03 cobra 39lb injectors, and a lightning MAF,
4r70w trans out of an 03 v6 stang
plus a bunch of other odds and ends like swap oil pan, distributor out of a 94 lightning with a steel gear, PP 28ounce balancer, tci 28ounce flexplate, frp 31 spline differential, all arp hardware including headstuds, and a few other things that i've left out i'm sure.

i have a COMP Cams 35-522-8 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Camshafts - Overview - SummitRacing.com at the moment that i picked up several years ago to use and i posted a thread about it and got mixed results about if it would be good with my combo or not. i've been putting alot of thought into it for a good bit now and i've talked myself into using it and not using it several times already. i've thought about buying a Trick Flow Specialties TFS-51402001 - Trick Flow® Track Max® Hydraulic Roller Camshafts for Ford 5.0L - Overview - SummitRacing.com and using it but i really have no idea into what specs to look at when picking a cam. i've thought about going with a custom cam but it seems that ED is really far behind at the moment and the news about jayallen scares me a bit, plus i dont really have the money to go with a custom at the moment.

i still need to buy quite a few things for the project to get it into the car much less get to the point where i want to be. the goal for the moment is getting the motor and trans in and work on tuning it while i recoup some funds to put into the rearend, suspension, and bracing. the motor should be a 9.5 to 1 compression with a .040 head gasket. this car is by far not my daily driver and will be 60% track 40% street and will be street driven about like some people ride their bikes. taken out on nice clean days. the car no longer has a/c or smog since the a/c never worked and i live in alabama and there are no smog laws here. the motor was built with low compression in mind for the addition of some boost in the future but theres no telling when that will actually happen.

so far whats everyone's thoughts on the parts i have accumulated?
any advice on the cam?
i'll get some of the pics up as soon as i can figure out how to post them again. its been a while since i post up picks.

and as always :SNSign: :flag:

thank you for your time

lol no advice on those tow cams? i would like to know more about duration if anyone has any knowledge. plus how do people host their pictures for free? hoping to get the motor out of the car this weekend if it dries up some from tonights storms and get to work on getting everything cleaned up a little bit for the new motor and would like to show pictures so everyone knows this is my actual build and not one of my what if builds.

well i got a decent amount done to start off with. this has been over the last month or so and i had to take a few weeks off from working on it because my son was born but heres some of the progress

let me know what you think. its goin to be a long build because of work and spending time with the family but i got more time than money so that will be ok. and i'm going to need alot of help when it comes time to getting this thing back together

as always :flag: :SNSign: thanks for your time

thanks mark. its been alot of fun so far and everything has been going very smoothly.

the project has been something i've been planning for the last 3-4 years now along with my wife's 86 lx that we're planning on making a low budget drag car out of. just had to wait till we got everything situated and the wife told me i needed to get to work because she missed going to the dragstrip with our old group.

cool build....IMO i would go with the Trickflow cam of the two....that other one has ALOT of duration that needs more compression than what you're planning to run...could be problematic in a "street" car

couldnt get on for the last week or so because of the storms that came through last wednesday and we've been out of power. but yea i havent really been able to do any work on the car and with my time off from working on it i think i've made up my mind to just get a custom cam. i figure it will be the best time to do so. i havent bought a converter yet for my trans nor have i gone with any gears yet so i'm hoping Ed will be able to tell me what to go with and i've also heard heard of edelbrock putting some junk springs on their heads so i'll probably just go ahead and get the matching kit when i get the cam.

so it'll probably put my project off a bit longer because i'm wanting to go ahead and and do a tubular k-member and the front suspension done while i got the motor out.
