351W Set up. NEED HELP!!!

Hey guys, I have a 1965 Mustang with a 351W and T5 that im looking to put some more power into. Heres the current setup, its basically setup just for cruising now, but would love to be anywhere from 375-400's hp, without completely killing the driveability.

1988 351W/ Refurbished, not even 350 miles on it
Holley 670 cfm Street Avenger
Edelbrock 351W Performer intake
Stock Cast iron heads
RV Cam/ Very very mild
Federal Mogul Pistons/ 9:1 Compression

I really just want to see if i can change the top end and go to a different set of aluminum heads. I was thinking either Canfield 195cc, AFR's 180cc or 205cc, also Patriots as well. And for the can i was looking at a Comp cam Magnum Hydrualic Flat Tappet 280H or 292H. I am also running a 7" Power booster, with a dual bowl master cylinder so i dont no how that big of a cam will work with the vaccumm from what ive been told, or to use a vaccumm Reservoir? The specs on the cams are 244/244 at .050" lift for the 292H and 230/230 at .050" lift for the 280H. I dont want to go to a roller just because of the expense factor even though they are great power makers. I could use all the help you guys have, i really want to make the right choice on this setup, and would like to hear what everyone else is running. Thanks CJ

Hi! I got a roller cam in my 351w with 224/230 duration. vacuum is low, 14 inch at 1000 rpm and around 12 at 900 rpm, with a vacuum canister i get about 23 to the booster after reving the engine. the 292h is to big for you comp ratio. I would'nt go any bigger then the 280h and would consider the 270h for streetability. with a 7 inch booster you need at least 18 inch of vac at idle.

with good head like afr 185 or 205 you will be well over 400 hp.

You are on the right track with replacing the top end of that motor..The stock heads are horrible and the performer is not much better than a stock 4V intake..It would be nice if you had more compression..Since the motor is fresh and you probably don't want to change the pistons I would go with a head with a fairly small combustion chamber (60ccs or less if possible)..I would stick with the name brand heads..The patriots are not even in the same league as the other heads you mentioned..

I hear nothing but good things about the AFR's, I personally am running Victor JR heads on my 408 and love them. A good set of heads and a decent cam will make a world of difference!

Thanks Guys. I agree that i should probably stick with the 280H rather than the 292H. And also a pair of AFR 185cc heads. Now with the intake manifold, should i go with a single plane or dual plane intake? Whats everyone else running?
