here is the deal, i have a 1991 camaro z28 convertible 5.0tpi auto 130k miles needs minor tedious stuff plus some paint work. the underneath of the car is spotless and rust free except the trunk lid which i have a spare for it. a guy wants to trade even up for a 92 mustang lx convertible special edition. the vibrant red with white top, rims and leather interior. it has 102k. needs some minor things also. the overall condition of that car is almost as clean as my z28......should i trade?

i like the ford drive train better but the z i think has better body lines. i had 3 other foxbodies and i love them but they were all hard top cars not verts. my z, the parts are hard as hell to find and expensive as hell too.

I had a 92 special edition with an auto and 2.73 rear gears and it was slooowww. Nothing a few boltons and gear change would not fix. Is the 92 fox in your deal a 5sp or auto? There were a lot less 5sp made in the 92 specials.

the fox le is a auto. so its pretty much a 5.0 auto vert for a 5.0 auto vert trade. im leaning more towards doing the trade because the fact that i know what i can do with a ford 5.0 or a ford 5.8. the only other thing to do to the z28 is a 350 swap and a ford 9" rear. either way i look at both cars have rarity to them

Collectables or Special Edition models are only valuable if they’re left alone…so prepare to depreciate its value considerably if you choose modify it.

So, that said, if you're looking for a collector, trade for the SE. If you're looking for a toy you can molest at will, either hold out for a run of the mill LX/GT to hack up, or live with the fact that that's all this SE will be worth after you're done fiddling with it.

I'm a Ford guy and more a Mustang guy, so me personally I probably would do the trade. But looking at it with that out the window.....I've heard those camaro's are becoming extremely rare to find as a convertible. I've seen some go for big money. So just make sure its something you really want and its worth it. I know the LE vert Mustang is low numbers too.

I agree with these guys...really depends on what you want to do in the long run for either car. Choose wisely my friend :) If this was my primary weekend cruiser I'd go with the stang of course! If I was looking to sell it at some point I'd take the one with the better value.

get back into the ford and stop thinking about it just get the better car that is easier one to make faster... You allready know you can make good power with a head, cam and intake swap.....DO IT!!!!!!!!!

i know what everybody is talking about with the uniqueness of the z28, thats why i bought it. but after doing research on them, trying to find parts is like trying to pull teeth. when i had my camaro when i was 16 parts were dime a dozen for them. i really didnt do my research when i bought the z28.

now on the other hand part availability for the stangs are out there. trading a rare car for a rare car is a tough call, thats why i am where im at now. in the end i think the camaro will be worth more but im not looking to restore or make money. if i were to restore i would get something worth my wild. just looking for something to cruise in and do some upgrades

so i did the trade today. ill miss the 3rd gen camaro, it looked good rolling down the e-way but looking at the stang in the driveway, im a little happier

here are a pic of my 1991 z28 convertible (blue one) and a pic of the stang. now dont laugh at the gay ass flame job. thats the first to go, i took the headlight and tail light covers off

Yea, the flames got to go, lol. Was that Camaro all original? The pic is so small, but it looks like it was. Not sure if I would have traded that if so to be honest. I am a Mustang guy, but just knowing how rare they are. Tough call, but good luck on the new Stang. Restoring it will be alot of fun and easier, but the Camaro I feel will be worth more.

well i didnt buy the camaro to restore it. i had plans for a ls swap or a 383 swap. the camaro needed paint and interior work also. painting a car isnt a issue i got that covered. plus the camaro had 130k miles so in my eyes thats not worth anything really. the mustang has 102k on it any in my eyes thats not really worth anything either. it all came down to part availability. should i have keep the camaro....probably, but i did extensive research on it, it was just to much of a pita. plus driving both of them, the mustang drives way better.
