Clutch problem.... I think..

i have an 09 mustang gt with 31,000 miles on it. I do not drive it bad. never been to the track, although i do down shift everytime coming to a stop.

with in the last month or so, when i am shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd at the higher RPM range, I press in the clutch and i hear this awful noise coming from the tranny area. once i shift and let clutch out noise goes away. And sometimes it grinds when i shift as well as making that awful noise.

Well i took it to ford cause its under warranty. they never even looked under the car. the tech and i went for a test drive so i could show him what was wrong. and he said that it is the throw out bearing making that noise and that is not covered under warranty.... I have never had to replace a clutch and throw out bearing this early. I am very upset with ford...

Why is this happening so soon? is anyone else having this problem??

I can not even get on my car because it will grind when shifting in high RPMs.

PLEASE HELP

No one can answer Y it just happens, it's not covered for that reason its a wearable item.

BTW Down shifting is horrible when slowing down, people tout that is saves brake pad life but what's cheaper a $60 set of brake pads or a set of timing chains??? I'd rather get more life out the chains then brake pads.

Let me tell you my story about Ford dealers, they suck first of all. I have a2007 GT 5-speed. I have had a valve rattle noise since I bought the car brand new, I use 93 octane BP gas and use synthetic oil and change it regularly and I have taken it back to 4 different dealers numerous times to get it taken care of, either no one can hear it or they hear it and don't give a damn. However, I did take it to one dealer that supports our mustang club and spoke with the owner and service manager together with my previous complaints paperwork and they did an unnecessary tune up at about 46,000 miles, did it fix the noise...not. I still have the noise and paid 600.00 for the tune up, oil change and tire rotation, should've been warranty and they said they would get ford to re-imburse me for the tune up, have they, hell no. I hate ford, but love my car. I just wish some one would figure out what it is and fix it. I am embarassed to drive it with the valve rattle, I feel like other people can hear it. Ford wnats you to buy their cars and talk a big game when trying to sell it, but if you have a problem, they are like who are you? Another problem that I have is that I'm female and they think that I am dumb when it comes to cars, but I'm not like most females, I do know about cars and probably more than most of their mechanics. Good luck with yours and I hope you can get yours fixed. I know all too well how you feel.

Hello jaskyland,

As you are aware, tune ups and maintenance is not covered under warranty unless you have an extended maintenance plan. However, I would still like to look into this further for you. Could you message me your info as well?

I've never understood why people downshift either. I mean I know why I just don't understand that high rev downshift to slow the car rather than brake. As Sparta said pads are 60 bucks a clutch set is 300+. I can't explain why crap fails either it just does. I put 400k miles on a clutch in an old Maxima and got 100k out of one in a Jetta, who knows. Throw out bearings go bad, I have spares for a T5 if you want. Ha.
