ok here's what im working with.

87 gt,306,5 speed, speed pro pistons, maf converted. march CAI, bbk 70mm TB, trickflow upper and lower intake, bbk headers, h pipe, flowmaster 40's, msd 6al, 3.55 gears, 6 puck clutch, lightweigh flywheel. fresh plugs. run 91 octane.

it just doesn't feel fast. first and second gear move pretty good at WOT but after that its not really impressive at all. i can't even catch 2nd gear rubber and i'd think that'd be easy with the amount of bolt ons. i can drop the clutch in second and get her sideways if i'm going around a corner but if im on the highway at like 60 and drop it into 3rd it doesn't really slam me back into the seat.

is this normal? my ranger can get a tiny squeak of 2nd gear rubber, my stang should be able to roast em even with ****ty tires.

Only way to tell for sure is head to the track and see what your trap speed is, that will answer all your questions. Spinnin aint winnin anyways. Something to try, have a buddy drive your car with you ridin shotgun. Trust me you get used to your car real quick and it starts to feel slow

To me it does sound a lil under the weather. I wud think it shud have alil uuumph than that considering I cud get my bone stock 89LX sideways in second and grab 3rd. Have you had the car tuned sense you put it together?

Fun fact:

We went to a burnout competition a few years back. My brothers 1986 GT was up, running 225 radials on 10 hole rims. Car would NOT do a burnout. 6000 RPM, in water, drop the clutch, it would spin, and the tires would grab and the car would lose all RPM. A couple of tries and he gave up.

Car runs 11.7 @ 115 at the track, but you would have never known. Shortly after I too tried to hit the tires (he was dropping the clutch then getting on the brakes) by doing the "heel and toe" method, and sure enough... car would not get the 225s to sit still and spin.

I wouldn't put much into a burnout.

Oh, yeah man, I couldn't agree more.

I was scratching my head about a 11 sec capable car not being able to spin the tires. Just doesn't seem right. But oh well, it is what it is.

Tires are everything.

When I had my 03gt, I could regularly chirp 4th gear. When I put decent rubber on it, could barely chirp 2nd after that.

So without a timeslip, it's hard to say how fast it should be. I'd guess it should put down a mid to low 14 second et on street tires

Its hard to say with the description in the original post. Everyone has a different idea of what "feels fast"

You didnt say what your timing was set at, thats a good spot to start, also, what heads are on the motor? I'd assume by the original post they are stock, if thats the case, your giving up alot right there

^This.

If its running 94mph in the quarter or something like that, then yah, something is definitely awry.

Honestly there isn't much done to your car.
Your mod list appears to be extensive, but without the heads, you really don't have much.
Probably about 235rwhp.
The 3.55 gears also will play a role in how the car feels too, while it may not be much sometimes if any slower than a 3.73, it feels different than one.

I agree. it's not going to be that much faster than a stocker

I'd sawy 245RWHP is being generous. I wouldn't expect it to be much over 190rwhp.

A bunch of people already said it and I agree.....You may think you have a lot of mods, but you have really basic bolt ons, a throttle body thats too big and more intake then those stock heads even really need. Put aluminum heads and a cam in the car and then when it doesnt pull hard you can be pissed lol

I agree with most post....when i first got my 5.0 first thing was basic bolt ons and 3.73's felt a big difference but once i dynoed it put down 195whp because i had a blown head gasket on the driver side once i took the motor apart and saw 2 clean piston tops lol....then i went with what i have on my sig the car it put down 303HP 327TQ without the port work and custom cam, as it sits at the moment i know i gain alot more but i havent had a chance to get it dynoed....
