It has been forever since I have been on here. I don't think anyone remembers me haha but anyway I used to be on here all day everyday and even though I never contributed much, I learned a ton and enjoyed being part of the 94-95 crowd. I sold my 95 gt about 2 years ago after I turbo'd it and blew the head gaskets twice. Biggest mistake of my life, especially if you knew how much of a loss I took on it. But to the point, I have since bought a 1995 Nissan 240sx that I have grown to really like but the problem is there is NO power to the thing. So now I'm contemplating getting a 96-98 cobra. Should I do it? The 240sx is light and nimble and really handles like a dream. It's really fun to drive. I'm afraid I'm going to lose that with cobra. But I know when I punch that gas pedal in the cobra, I'm going to have a big grin on my face. It's really a trade-off. I wanted to do an ls1 swap in it but it will just cost too much and involve a lot of work. The cobra already has the v8 and the power stock. I'm not messing around with little turbo 4 cylinders. I need that torque! I'm not sure what I should do.

Well, in general you're going to get biased answers in a Mustang forum. I've never driven a 240sx so I can't comment on the handling. You can improve the handling on a Mustang, but the live axle in back will always compromise cornering. It's a limitation that I can live with for the power you mention, but that will have to be yuor call. You can do many things to a Mustang's suspension to improve it, you can even put in an IRS from the 99-04 Cobras. But in the end, it's your call.

My niece had one of those...I drove it and was impressed with the way it drove, the layout, and it went pretty decent...they are nice and I have a soft spot for Nissans as Iv'e had a few and there pretty much bullit proof and I love em..

Line up the Cobra for a test drive then jump back into the 240 and take a ride...odds are the Cobra is gonna win you over...:nice: it is what it is... a 4 banger.

Decisions, decisions.... :D

I would look at the 99-01 Cobras. IRS, aluminum block, 320hp, best front/rear weight balance of any production mustang. It probably won't handle as well as the 240, but it's about as close as you can get in a stock mustang without getting a 2011+ model.

Thanks for the replies. My friend has a 96 cobra and everytime he takes me for a ride I'm like wow. It just keeps pulling. 99-01 cobra would be out of my price range. I'll have a hard time getting the cash up f

What you buy is really up to you. You can always put a Silvia motor in that thing. It's like a 20GST engine or something like that. There was a guy with one of those in Orlando with the Silvia engine, and it ran 11.36 in the quarter.

i'm with Mike. you'd be surprised about the price of the 99/01 cobras. give it a look around on craigslist and classifieds before you rule them out. i think they would give you the best of both worlds with the exception of the better body style :D

I've had a bunch of Mustangs and after owning a variety of vehicles I still go back to tinkering on Mustangs. I'd pass on the Nissan and get something you know how to work on. I'm starting a new project very soon (see sig.) and I couldn't be happier. I know exactly how you feel about doing a power adder then getting fed up and ditching. I did the same thing and regret it. I did get a lot of money for my car but I don't care about the money, just wish I still had it.
