AOD Shifting Very Late

I have a 91 LX AOD shifting at high rpm. It's typically shifting at around 3500 rpms and letting off the gas. It's got a new transmission that has been built up and has a "Transgo Full Race shift kit". TV Pressure has been checked by multiple ford mechanics and other mustang specialists and they say the transmission is working fine and that it's more than likely the shift kit causing the shifting. Somehow, I feel that it may not be the shift kit. It's a new transmission that was pre-built with high performance parts, so I don't think the governor or valve body is stuck in someway.

YES, i had a similar problem.

i cant expand but i know that i messed with the cable until it shifted sooner

Well it sounds like it's your shift kit. The smoking gun is "full race shift kit". You can check the TV adjustment if you want. It's very simple.

Another thing you need to check is fluid level. If your level is low it will cause late/ hard shifts.

If both of these are okay, then it's something inside the transmission.

I'm very familiar with this youtube video. I own his whole DVD set on the AOD. I've set it to just slightly tenser than what he said, only to try and compensate with some extra pressure. Maybe I set it too high? I'll find out tomorrow and adjust it in the neutral position and see if that helps. I just know that for some reason my adjustment block that moves on the TV Cable appears closer to the front of the car than his and there is slight tension. I'll readjust tomorrow and post results.

Here's your problem (at least part of it). The shift kit already gives you more than enough application pressure to the clutches.

To recap. The Full Race Shift Kit will make it shift like this? Also, will readjusting the TV cable make it shift lower? If so, by how much.

More than likely. If you've had Ford techs, and Mustang experts already look at it, the forum probably can't give you any other alternative opinion.

If you over adjusted it, then yes.

If so, by how much.

Depends on how far you over adjusted it.

From what has been told to me, adjusting for too much pressure will make it shift at high rpm because it thinks it is in WOT. The ford techs never drove the car just they just adjusted it.

Here is a video I took on impulse when I drove the stang around the block of my neighborhood. At no point of this recording am I going farther than 1/2 throttle. You can easily notice later in the video that I do get on it very briefly ( no more than. At the beginning I'm going at slight throttle all the way until I say something in Hungarian to myself ("It's crazy"). After that I'm going at about 1/8 throttle until I turn again. At about 1:28 I push it to about 1/2 throttle very briefly then slow to about 1/8 throttle until I turn again. At 1:50 I'm pushing very very slightly on the throttle because I'm turning again quickly back to my street. Note that it just creeps to 3200 RPM then shifts on it's own. All shifting is pretty firm, which feel fan-****ing-tastic, especially if I go at WOT it will very easily chirp into 2nd and sometimes 3rd.

EDIT: I've also took all the tension off the TV Cable and have it in the neutral position...and still shifts the same. It shifts no different if I give it very slight tension or very slight slack. I've also got to redo my base idle...I know.
