Well, I'm out of college for the summer and will be working full time starting Monday, so these are my plans to accomplish for the summer before I go back to school. I also have a few questions that have to do with what I plan to fix. I'll start with some questions...

1) The brake pad on the rear drivers side rubs or something, it makes a repetitive clicking sort of sound when I brake. The guy I just bought the car from said its got decently new brake pads so he doesn't know what it is. What should I do to fix this?

2) The tail pipe on the passengers side sticks out further than the drivers side and is touching the rear bumper.

When going a steady speed I can hear it rattling on the body, how would I go about fixing this, preferably without having to get new tailpipes.

3) There is a gap between the window and the top on the drivers side, it doesn't seem like the window is off track and it feels like it is all the way up, it won't go up any further, what is wrong here? How could I fix it?

4) The air conditioner and heater both work in the car, but they will only blow out of the defrosters on top of the dash and on the floor, it won't blow anything out of the front vents in the dash. The guy I bought it from said something about a vac line but I didn't quite get what he was talking about. I was checking the oil yesterday and saw this in the engine bay and it isn't attached to anything.

Is that what needs to be hooked up in order to make the a/c blow out of the main vents? If so where does this end of it go?

5) This clip is broken so it won't stay down all the way and rattles sometimes, where could I get that little yellow clip at? I looked on late model restoration and couldn't find anything, but I don't know the name of the piece so I didn't exactly know what I was looking for lol.

6) The drivers side door will latch all the way but you have to slam it shut or like pick up on it to shut it. My dad and the guy I bought it from both said it just needs a little plastic bushing. THis is the door not latched all the way.

Where can I get this and where on the door does it go?

Ok, sorry for all the questions, but thanks in advance for any answers.

Now, things I'd like to get accomplished this summer is to get everything I just asked about fixed and a little more...

7) I plan to get a top boot for the convertible top, the guy didn't give me one with it so I plan to order one.

8) I already ordered these because the top has come unlatched on the drivers side twice and they are just really worn down.

9) I plan on getting this fixed, don't know if I'll try to glue it back down or get a new armrest.

10) I plan to get new headlights because the passengers side is yellow and the drivers side has a big crack in it

11) I plan on ordering this piece and replacing it.

12) I plan on ordering some underdrive pullies.

I think that is everything lol. I know its not anything major, but I've never done much work on a car before so I'm excited to get started. I will try to keep this thread posted with all my progress. It'll take me a while to get started because I owe my brother some money he lent me for the car. But I will get started when I can! Let me know what you guys think and thanks for any answers to my questions!
Thanks and enjoy!

I'll try to help on a few here:

#1 - It is probably one of the rear shoes, mine does the same exact thing I just have not bothered adjusting them.

#2 - This is probably due to how the mufflers were hung, again my car had this problem only the left side stuck out further. I had different mufflers put on and the shop "did the best they could" to get them even...they got them close enough to my satisfaction.

So it just needs adjusted? Do I just take it off and put it back on making sure its all straight then?

And I don't know what I'll do about my exhaust then..

But thanks for the help!

There are 2 adjustments that can be made, the parking brake and the star adjuster for the shoes so it could need a combination of these two...or the shoes just might need to be replaced, you won't really know until you remove the drums to get a good look at what is going on.

#4 that looks like the cruise control vacuum dump. I think it hooks up to the brake pedal assembly to turn off cruise when you hit the brake.

#6, you can get replacement door strikers at auto zone. They are in the "help" section of parts. I don't know the p/n, but it's a full striker assembly. Of course, you can try adjusting yours first. All you need is the correct torx socket to fit it.

I haven't started ordering anything yet or really fixing anything yet, but I did start on polishing it up today. I will have to finish saturday and possibly redo what I did because outside it looked great but inside it had a weird streaky film look to it, may have to start over and take my time more to get it looking better. But its a start.

Bet you can't tell where I started :D

I was thinking of leaving it like this, thought it looked pretty cool...
Totally kidding there

Thats all the progress I got, hoping I can get the front bumper to match. I will probably be starting over saturday though as I said it was kind of streaky, but I think it turned out pretty good so far. I'll take my time more saturday though and get it looking sharp.

Ok here's a few answers.
For the doors, you probably need new pins and bushings for the hinges.
Also as suggested you need new a new striker or bushing and adjustment.

For the tailpipe it's probably hitting the upper control arm or the frame.
Put the rear on jackstands, no the body, go under loosen the h to catback, have someone twist the tailpipe, then retighten when it clears.

For the heat/ac you probably have a vacumm line off, there is one that goes to it on the passenger top of the firewall, it's not too long and has a female end on it.

The brake shoe problem is probably with the springs and levers in the drum, people screw them up all the time, take the drum off and check, it's not the pads, they don't make any clicking sound when properly installed.

For the headlights, buy a compoud kit for the one, then get a real ford light for the other side.
Aftermarket headlights are garbage, that goes for all of them.
