I am glad to see that stangnet DOES NOT have a mixed breed tech forum on this FORD MUSTANG web site, like corral, I posted my opinion that gm engines need to be in gm cars and not fox mustangs, then i got warned to read the forum rules or be banned from the site. does any one agree with me?

The near sighted brand loyalism is tired and outdated. The "I BLEED FORD BLUE YEEHAW" bull**** gets old quick. A fast machine is a fast machine. Get over it.

These threads usually get locked within an hour or two. Thanks for throwing lighter fluid at the flame.

The first Fords built had Dodge engines in them and that trend is even stronger today with car companies working together to develop engines, so someday you might be driving a Ford with a Kia motor in it. Someone can do whatever they want to their mustang even if that means putting it on a 4x4 chassis, putting 12" wheels on it that stick two feet out or even put a chevy motor in it. I personally would not do these things to my car but creativity and imagination is what keeps this hobby alive.

I think its pretty cool that a guy can spend 2500 dollars on a chevy 350 (not sure which one) with a 6 speed and put the car into 12" NA with very few mods....then mod it and it goes 11's..

Saw a member here do chevy swap with a coupe. He had WAY Less money in that set up to go 11's then it would take to build a small block ford to do the same thing.

I know a guy who loves mustangs but grew up building chevys. He built a small block 355 with a turbo 400 trans and it runs 11's with a 125 shot.

You builld it right and make it fast thats all that matters to me.

but why? if a chevy engine is cheaper to build, put it in a chevy car. so do you think ford should have contracted chevy to put a ls1 in the new 2011 mustang instead of the new 5.0 modular.!!! i guess im just brand loyal.!!!!

Brand loyalty is respectable and one method of thinking but remember if Caroll Shelby didn't have the balls to shove a big ford engine in a brit car you wouldn't have a Shelby cobra and rx7 owners wouldn't have something to replace that fifth engine they just blew in a year. JK Its one of those things where even if its not for you don't hate it just appreciate the craftsmanship and man hours put into it.

I also think it was cool when i first started with mods on my 87 GT, it had k&n air filter, underdrive pulleys, shorty headers, h-pipe, cat back, 3:55 gears, and 1.7 cobra roller rockers.... every think else stock!!! heads, intake, cam, tb, inj., clutch. ect. it run 12.75@105 and with a 150 shot, 11.68@114 and all used parts were under $1000. now thats a bang for the buck..

I find it hard to believe you put a bone stock gt with bolt ons at 12.75 @ 105 NA Im calling BS on that one.

If you gutted the car and had slicks maybe Id believe it.....Clean LX has a coupe with the following

12.96 @ 104.0
full exhaust.
4.10's.
76mm MAM.
air bag in the right rear.

stock original motor. (tb/intakes/vlv cvrs/oil pan/timing set etc never been removed)
stock original suspension. (bushings/shocks/struts/cntrl arms/k mbr etc.)
gt interior.
no weight removal. (ok, spare/jack and floor mats, 3240 race weight)
3000 d/a... would correct to deep into the 12's at sea level.

Because Chevy dont make foxbodys

and ford dont make an ls:shrug:
if this person likes a chevy power plant they should show it off in a chevy. i understand the concept of what your saying i just think if you think you can do better with a chevy, do it in a chevy.
im not trying to start a pissing match, just giving my opinion

I understand what your saying. I personally have a ford engine in my ford and plan to keep it that way. However if someone chooses to put a chevy engine in his/her foxbody because thats what they like for a power plant why should we hate on them.....

no hate, one of the best sounding foxes i have heard had a 725rwhp BBC under the hood. not for me but i do respect that. i just wish he put it in a camaro and it would be that much better in my eyes.

Foxes are easier to work on, lighter, and just better looking than the cam/birds.

I love the idea of the mixed breed, its kind of what hot rodding is all about....

Anyone can see the potential in the GM LSx motors.

A well built car is a well built car, Ford, Chevy, Honda I really dont care I like them all.

Exactly!:nice:

People fail to realize that the whole hot rodding/car guy hobby was born from mixing and matching parts. It's about busting your ass and building something you love. I don't care if it's a mustang with a Honda motor, if you've poured your time into it, you have my respect. I've got no problems with the brand loyal guys but don't fool yourself into thinking your protecting the hobby...

Here we go again.

It doesn't matter how many times it is repeated, or how it's worded, the Chevy in a Ford debate always seems to float back to the surface like the unflushable turd.

Obviously, there are those (I'd like to know the percentage) that could give a rats ass what's under the hood.

Then there are those that can't see past the Blue Oval on the hood.

Whether it's cheaper, or faster, or just different, The reason anybody put's a Chevy motor under the hood of a Mustang is so obvious to me that I can only sum it up with one word..........DUUURR!

For those that say If you want chevy power so bad, keep it in a chevy
I'd say... What Chevy? and why would any racer trying to go fast wanna lug the extra weight of an F body? If not an F body then what? A 75 Nova? An 80 Malibu? Chevy hasn't built a lightweight car as ready to race as the Mustang since the second gen Camaro.

As far as the last gen F body goes, Why would you want the hassle with a car where the engine has to be removed from under the car?

To those that claim that it's just as cheap to build a ford motor as a chevy, and why not just keep the ford motor that was in the car in the first place and mod it. I'd say.. What if there was no motor in the car in the first place? What if you are starting from scratch? What if you don't have Uncle Ernies' 5.0 laying in the corner of your garage? What if you had to buy everything new?

Coming from somebody who had to endure the era when hot rod and car craft ran Camaro after Camaro features every month you get freakin' sick of Camaros.
W/o inferring any brand deviation, Mustang has become Camaro.

How many times can you walk a line of 100 foxes w/ a 5.0 at a show and not see anything different? Wheels/tires/paint, wheels/tires/paint,.. 5.0/351, 5.0 /351, 5.0/351, me too, me too, me too. YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

If it's a car show, and there is only one model at the show. I'm stayin' home.

This argument happens at least once a month it seems like. People can do what they want, its there car. If you think about it the majority of cars on here use non ford parts so how is that any different. People do what they want with there stuff, move on bla bla bla it gets old
