I don't post very often but my resent install problems with a pair of Pypes LT headers made me want to share for anyone thinking about getting some of these. I ordered a pair of the Pypes LT headers about 3 weeks ago and it took about 6 hours once we received them to get the car torn down to the engine sitting on blocks with the K-member out of the way. First I installed the Passenger side and all seemed to go well except for the normal PITA header bolts. Next up was the Driver side (Not so well)

Problem #1 the EGR tube was a full inch away from the EGR fitting on the header. I called the retailer and was instructed to call Pypes which I did. Pypes took a look at some pictures I sent and sent me out a new drivers side header. (6 days later and a new header) SAME PROBLEM. So extremely ticked off and armed with a torch, a block of wood and my foot the EGR tube was bent 1 inch into compliance. Phew all is now going to be all right.

Problem #2 The Steering shaft will not allign to the pump wihout rubbing. Thinking I would have to resort to the solution of problem #1 I figured to check the rest of the fittment before doing anything about this issue.

Problem #3 Both the driver side and passanger side collectors are resting on the floorboard angled up making it impossible to install the mid pipe

After calling the retailer back and sending a couple more pictures I ended up being the proud recipent of a pair of BBK LT Headers and shorty X-Pipe.....Which had ZERO Problems and were 10000X easier to install. Everything lined up as it should and the hardware provided was great. Moral of the story is trying to save money by going with the less expensive product is sometimes not the smart idea. You get what you pay for.

Rant over :D

man that sucks but glad you got is squared away..

on a more hopeful note, about 2 weeks ago pypes discontinued 2v headers do to quality issues. there is no release date for the new design but hopefully if they decide to remake them, fitment issues will be a thing of the past.

pypes has really bad quality stuff. Hence why they are so cheap. I bought the SLP headers and they are really good quality, zero fitment issues, easy to install, and are awesome. You get what you pay for.

Sounds like a good time. I have the BBK ceramics on my car but I didn't do the work. Seemed to go pretty smooth though, just couldn't fit a couple of my Stage 8 locking bolts toward the firewall side of the header, I guess because the primaries are too tight. Ended up using a couple standard stud+nut.

I bought the steeda version which is the same. Mine are close to the floorboard as well but not so bad that the mid pipe won't fit. Worst part is my mid pipe. The o2 bungs are welded on the lower half of the pipe. I have a friend that has the pypes version and his fit fine. Over on modularfords people have used the pypes/steeda/c.a.m LTs with great success. Sad to hear they didn't work for you. Seems these problems run in batches.

In all honesty, dropping the K member was easy once we saw the big picture. 6 bolts, a floor jack and a long 2X6 board. Made it nice and easy to throw the headers on and provided realativly easy access to all the bolt holes.

I run the Pypes as I got them dirt cheap(I wonder why) only issue I had was tube was in the way of steering shaft. I tried contacting them but got run around over it. Collectors are maybe 1/8" from floor. Still I would not use them again if given to me for free. Also tried one of their off road H-pipes and the welded the o2 bungs to bottom of pipe  Ended up cutting that POS up and using the ball/socket ends for exhaust work.

I agree, the SLP longtubes fit like a glove. I dropped mine in with the new motor and auto transmission. Once in, they don't rub ANYTHING. I have clearance everywhere. They seal perfectly too using the ford steel gaskets. I recommend them, however I know they are expensive.
