How does the inside of your stang smell?

guy that owned mine before me smoked in it, so if it sits in the sun for a few days it initially smells like a faint smoke smell. but on the regs it smells normal with a hint of sweat. i drove that car every day when i worked at a carwash, left the windows down all the time (never got rain in it though) and never used the ac for some reason even though it blows ice cold.

my gfs dad had an 84 and she says my car has the same old mustang smell. so apparently old foxes have a certain smell

I had a Ranger that I bought used a few years back. The original owner was a smoker, and even though the dealer 'detailed' it, it still smelled. I picked a nice warm day, and sprayed the entire interior with almost a whole can of Febreze. Then I just let it sit, with the doors wide open for 10-12 hours, and believe it or not, that took care of it! Now they have different scented Febreze, so you can pick one that you like. I actually should do my Mustang to get rid of that old car smell. I use a Black Ice air freshener, under the drivers seat, and it smells pretty good.

Vanilla, from the tree hanging on my headlight switch.
Maguires gold leather conditioning wipes, for a couple days after I clean my car.
The majority of the time, 7-11 coffee.
Stupid cup holder!

If you don't have a few coffee stains and grease stains somewhere in your Mustang, you're not doing it right. :D

You ever driven an SN-95 Mustang? Whoever designed the placement of the cupholders was a complete f**king moron. My shift knob will hit anything placed in the smaller front cupholder in 2nd and 4th gear. The rear cupholder w/ clearance for shifting is freaking huge and no-one makes a single serve cup/bottle that fits it... so you either knock your drink down from shifting, or it falls out of the huge cupholder during a turn.... and I hate it...

Ford engineering not so good in the center console section (cup holders or lack of, ashtray, arm rest, etc.) for a good chunk of years :(

Today I thought my large coke from BK was big enough to squeeze in between my e-brake and passenger seat... unfortunately it tipped.

You ever driven a fox? there isnt any cup holders! lol

My brother had a buddy that farted in his (the buddy's)truck so much he couldn't get the smell out of his seat. He went to the dealer and bought a brand new seat and threw away the poo seat!:rlaugh:

Give up on air freshener!

Eh, there's that one between the ebrake handle and passenger seat :rlaugh:

haha I thought I was the only one that had noticed that..... My monster can fits in there perfect. I'm going to pull the carpet out eventually for black but thats a ways down the road. I guess I'm going to try some carpet powder and vacume it out good.... only like 3 weeks more of driving before I go to the desert anyways, I dread when I first get into it 5 months from now.

i swear ford designed it like that. i can even put a skinny or extra wide bottle or can in mine, and adjust the passenger seat bolster to hold it more firmly or more loosely. :D

that cupholder works wonders. and for water bottles, or gatorade bottles,or any 20 oz bottles, try shoving it down inbetween the pass seat belt buckle and the console. even more perfect.

im kinda anal about spilling stuff though. i spilled a red bull in mine and i pulled the carpet and shampood / powerwashed it. lol.

That's my cup holder too ! If they give me a cup that's too large to fit there I make them give me a smaller one. :nice:

I've had people ride in my car and say "all these old Mustangs all smell alike". But the truth is, I've hauled so much stuff in my hatchback (usually car parts that leak oil or something) that I'm ashamed to say. And I tend to keep my work gloves in the back floor board and oft times they are soaked with diesel fluid. Plus I had a leak at the pinion flange in my car for a long time, and you know how that rear end fluid smells (like a burnt pole cat) !

If they complain too loudly I usually just snap their neck and sling them around a little bit. That usually brings them around !

Sometimes i wish i had a console in my coupe, but i just use the cheapo window cup holders when i have to, which is rare..i usually opt for something with a screw on lid when i'm in the car.

I'm going to say I like my 88's smell better than I did my 90's smell. My 90's former owner was a woman who drove it nice but she must have been a chain smoker that didn't open the windows. I extractor cleaned all fabric parts and it still had that smell. The smoke smell went away but there was just this foul smell that kind of haunted it. Didn't smell like smoke, just had an "ikk" to it. Even the plastic under the dash had that foul smell. Made me hate working on it sometimes. My 88 belonged to one non smoker owner who kept it clean. It sits in the garage a lot, so it gets that smell. But isn't bad.
