automatic transmission problems

Today when I got on it. It took a while to kick in what do you think the problem can be. I hear a metal clanking when I went off of it. This is a automatic transmission.

Kinda a vague description of the problem. Really can't offer a guess based off that.

the dude said it was rebuilt and has a shift kit on it. I think it shifts too soon like 3000 rpms and it dont shift when i get on it. Its weak. but my 87 gt is a 5 speed with all the listings below. just thinking if i should swap the parts out the new one is a 89 convertible and yes i like the 87-93 style.
