Pypes Violator Mufflers?? turbo?

Are the Pypes Violator axle back mufflers turbo or chambered? American Muscle has them listed as chambered and Summit has them as turbo.
I need to order some mufflers ASAP, this stock exhaust is getting on my nerves. It's doo damn quiet.

Technically they both list them incorrectly. The Violator is a straight through muffler with louvered pipe and no sound deadening material. The straight thru design is for maximum flow. The louvered pipe inside is to create enough turbulence to get a chambered sound.
 
Thanks for the info. You wouldn't happen to have a cutaway picture of a violator would you? Also, the Pypes website states the Race Pro is the quietest, hmm. All I want is an axle back that has a nice sound, kinda loud at high throttle, and no drone on highway trips. Is that asking too much :D
My Cobra had an X-pipe with flowmasters and it sounded pretty good but was no good for trips.
BTW, I don't want to change the factory exhaust in front of the axle at this time and I don't want to spend 500 bucks on the last 2 feet of exhaust.

Pypes does not make a Race Pro Axle back. It would be too much like stock. If you have a 5 or 6 speed, you'll barely get any drone except maybe right around 1900-2000 rpm depending on your rear gear ratio. With an automatic the drone is a little more pronounced and in a slightly wider rpm range. 1800-2000. If you don't do any other exhaust mods, I'd be really surprised if this axleback annoyed you drone wise. If you added an off road or high flow catted midpipe, then you would get into a more noticable drone on any performance exhaust Axleback. Not just Pypes.
 
Got the Pypes axle back and they look pretty good. Actually they look like very good quality pipes and tips. Took the stock mufflers off, slipped the pypes on loosely and got a game plan of how to make the tips line up correctly. The driver's side didn't look too bad (little low) so I figured "oh well" I'll clamp it on and make the passenger side match.. maybe I'll have to loosen the factory clamps and re-adjust. Long story short, the Pypes pipes are very loose on the factory pipes and the band clamps will not tighten up. I used a 6 point socket with a 1/2 inch ratchet and the clamps will not crimp the pipes. Finally I put my foot on the tire and pulled in the ratchet,.... snaped the bolt off. Now I have a car with no exhaust.
I'm puting the factory exhaust back on and ordering something else.

That 1" stainless band clamp has a cast spacer in the center of it. If it gets caught crooked, you can tighten all you want and it won't compress the pipe. Sounds like that's what happened.

After all that investigation and decision making about getting the sound you are looking for and you're a broken clamp away from hearing what you bought and you are giving up? Why not call Pypes and get a replacement clamp? They'll send one or two right out to you if you explain what happened.

They are 1/8 inch larger that the stock Ford pipes and can't compress enough to even hold themselves on let alone create a leak free joint. As you can see from this picture the slit in the pipe is completely closed, even overlapped itself, and the pipe still fell off with a jiggle. If I'm overlooking something please let me know because it sure would be nice to get these to work.

Got the new set as promised but it's the same deal. The Pypes pipe fit a standard 2.5 inch pipe very well but the stock Mustang pipes seem to be undersized, 2.458 to be exact. Even with 2 slits and the clamp bottomed out tight with an impact gun the pipe still comes off. I'm so frustrated right now. Not what I wanted to be doing on my holiday weekend. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Is it maybe a certain run of Ford exhaust pipes that were slightly undersized? Maybe a model year difference? I don't think the GT/CS is any different than a GT under the skin, not like the old GT/CS.

Thats wierd. I think you must have undersized overaxle pipes. Have you owned the car since new? They were never changed? If the Pypes won't fit then I doubt any aftermarkets will. The violators had a nice tight slip fit on my 2009.

I haven't owned the car since it was new but everything was bone stock when I got it except for new tires. The exhaust is definately stock Ford.
I agree it's going to be hard to find an axle back that fits. Maybe the Ford Racing products?
 
One of the main reasons I bought a bolt on axle back kit was so that I could change it later on, or put the factory exhaust back on. Welding them on would destroy the factory pipes and cause me more aggravation and money.

Anybody install FRPP axle backs on a 2008 GT/CS? Seems like they should fit.
 
Final Chapter on this Mod

Bottom line is: My Pypes Axle back doesn't fit correctly.
I ended up taking off the mid-pipes (which were stock ford that has been installed on Mustangs since 2005) and heating and expanding them to accept the violators. Not a big deal for a good muffler shop or a gear head with a welder but definately not a 30 minute job in ones driveway unless you want a rattle and/or leak.
The product looks great and I wouldn't hesitate to order and install a full exhaust system, but I would expect to weld/cut/bend in order to get it to work correctly.
Just 1 opinion. There's many out there.
