Went back to Nelson Ledges road course over the weekend. It was just a fun day, but I still pushed the car harder than I should have. I ran in B group this time with some more experienced drivers. I ran right with a M3 E36, but he was a little faster in the turns. But I did get around a Lotus Exige. No doubt he wasn't pushing it too hard, but at least I can say I passed a Lotus. :D

And a couple youtube videos. Unfortunately my camera skills failed me and I didn't have the GoPro on for any later session. I was driving much harder later in the day.

Make sure you watch the end of this one :)

That looks like a lot of fun. The track I used to run on was no where near that nice. BTW, what does that white Golf in the first video have under the hood that you can't get passed him?

Kurt

Not sure what the white Golf has under the hood, but I couldn't get past him because he was hogging the track and wouldn't wave me by. I'm guessing that's why they black flagged him. It's a fun day only, so no passing except on the straights and you need to be waved by.

Paul, can't miss an old Fairmont at an event like that. :) Didn't have a chance to talk to him though. We're doing another event in October, same price and everything.

Not much really. SFC's, Sportline springs, cheap KYB shocks/struts, QA1 k-member, rear UCA/LCA, C/C plates. The car handles way better than it should and the only reason I can think of is the massive tires, and maybe the k-member.

That Liberty Bell park looks like it'll be pretty nice when it's done. I wish I had a track 20 minutes from me :(

How cool is it to see an LTD racing?

If you're into that you must read this thread with LTD Supercharged with an Eaton Blower M90. BUT the Eaton isn't mounted as a lower intake, he put it off to the side like a Vortech. Impossible? Read this.

Thats so awesome, If I ever built another Mustang after this one it would be an Auto X car. I just wish there were some tracks like that around here.

Nice 180* BTW lol

Been there, done that... don't waste your time and money. Now if it is going to be a HPDE car then the mustang isn't so bad, for a quick transitioning autocross car the suspension geometry is just all wrong, front and rear.

Looks like a good time! :) I definitely want to run Nelson sometime... What group did you run with? Do you have a web-link for them? ;)

First time I've ever seen a pickup truck at a track day?!
Or a Fairmont, for that matter.

That Lightning was there last year too, it was surprisingly quick.

Check out Torqued Racing Solutions | Racing Event Hosting & Promotions. My cousin runs it and he just started putting these events on. He has two more scheduled this year, one at Putnam Park in September and another at Nelson in October.

Paul, would you recommend a Z06 over a 03/04 Cobra w/full MM suspension? Prices are nearly identical between the two... I'll be doing 3 or 4 of these lapping days a year and I'm looking for something a little better suited for track/street duty. My car right now is great on track but a pita on the street.

I really enjoyed that, especially the video. That looks like about as much fun as you can have with your pants on.

I went to Kent State back in the '70s, not too far down 88 from Nelson. A buddy of mine had an H-production Bugeye Sprite he ran up there. Your video brought back some great memories of that track.

One question, though. You had some of the clearest track video I've ever seen on YT, especially considering that it was such a gray, overcast day. What kind of camera set-up did you use?

Thanks, camera is a GoPro HD shot in 720P 60fps. My original video is slightly clearer, but I had trouble getting it encoded after editing.
