15" tire size question again!

I know this has been answered a million times.....but i need to know what is best for my 68 Mustang Coupe. Ordered GT Styled Steel.

Fronts : 15 x 7's with 4.25 backspacing.
Rears : 15 x 8's with 4.50 backspacing.

Looking for widest in rear without problems. Stock suspension. Thinking 225/60/15 fronts.................255/60/15 rears.

225/60/15, for a 15 x 8 rim? I know i could fit more tire in the rear. Maybe a 255?

245 I was told what would be the max. I saw a 68 stang with 245/6015 in the rear and looked nice, and the owner emailed me he wouldn't go bigger.

Ok, that's good to know. I will play it safe and make that the limit. Tires are hard to find now in 15"....especially in white lettering.

No doubt. I'm running on the BFGs with the 225/60 and they're great! Just did a tire roatation because my front isn't aligned yet but overall, still an even wear on all 4.

You running 15 x 7 's or 15 x 8's? What year is your stang?

I'm running 15x7's on all 4. It's a 66, front end 1" drop, and the rear are a 1 inch lowering, but I installed 1 inch longer shackles so it's basically a 2 finger gap between wheel/wheel-well.

That's good everything clears with the 1" drop. Mine is stock height (I think) for now. The only thing i can find are either BFG's or Cooper Cobras.

Here's the same size wheels and B/S on my 68. obviously lowered quite a bit.

Tires are 205/65/15 in front and 225/60/15 in the rear.

I'd consider a black wall tire, both BFG TA and Cooper Cobra tires are pretty darn lousy. I had BFG TA and switched to some Yokohamas and it made a tremendous improvement in even just the ride quality driving down the highway.

I you go 245/60/15 on the rear of a 68, be prepared to seriously roll your fender lips.

I'm currently running bf goodrich t/a's at 255/60r15 on 15x8 on my rears of a 68 mercury cougar with no problems. rims are magnum 500s. not sure the back space but i think it's either 4 1/4 or 4.5. hope that helps

Even going with black walls, there is not much out there for sticky rubber. BFG G-Force might work for you. I have Kuhmo ASX's and they are the weak link in my suspension.

I run '67 Shelby 10 spokes (15x7) on my fastback and have 225/50-15's on the front and 245/50-15's on the rear. I think they're a perfect fit, but if the car sat any higher the tires would be too short. Also, be warned I don't think they make 245/50-15's anymore (I can't find 'em anywhere) so that may be a moot point anyway.
