Gas Mileage With Tuner

i know this post is dead, but, i did notice a 3-4 mpg with the sct after driving for a week. i had the same result over several weeks not changing my driving characteristics. i only noticed the difference in mpg with the fuel saver tune installed though.

I got the 2011 5.0 with Steeda intake, bbr tune on 93 oct, american thunder exhaust, and factory 3.73. Im getting between 18-20mph on the street and 23/24 on the highway. It is better than when I first picked it up at 16-18 street and 22 on the highway

Very weird.

I don't have a 5.0 (yet?)...but I have seen 31mpg on the highway before...70mph or so, A/C on, 3.55 manual. I get about 22 mixed city/highway.

I thought for sure with the 6-speed that I could sneak 30mpg on the highway. We'll see. :)

I noticed this weekend, that yeah, if your doing 70mph, your mpg can get pretty high. I normally do 80 (speed limit is 75) so I get around 24mpg. When I dropped down to 70mpg, it went up to about 26-28mpg.

I know people hate the 1=4 shift skip thing also, but I will admit it does save on gas alot. Its also easier to shift once to fourth, than to have to shift 3 times in a few seconds when your just doing street driving.

I definately noticed a drop in my city milage driving after having an SCT Performance Tune along with a Steeda CAI installed on my 5.0. Stock I was averaging 14 in the city now it's down to 11.

is it because of your "driving" with the tune, or the tune itself.

As of now (some time gone by and about 5k on the odo) I get about 14-15mpg with tons of stop and go driving...I dont have a good estimate of the mpg on a full tank of hwy driving, but the little meter has me about 20-21 when Im cruising at 75, but I have since added 373s.

I was getting about 20.5 Avg MPG stock right before I started modding which went as high as 21.8 Avg MPG after a Steeda CAI and Bama 91 street tune. Since then I've started using my AC and now it's at 21.1 Avg MPG but that's still an improvement.

I took a solid, 1 hour drive a few weeks ago. AC was on, 6th gear with 3.73s, 70 mph, fresh MPG reset as I got on the freeway. I'm using a 93 race tune from Bama. The engine was turning 2,250....and I only got 22 MPG!!

My 07 GT had 3.55s and I could pull 30mpg at the same rpm over the course of a couple hours, same conditions.

I'd like to get my car dyno tuned so I can get the AF ratio checked and make sure everything is happy in there.

22 is GREAT for our cars, with 373s..i would be happy with that. Be careful not to lean that AFR out too much..That may be contributing to the #8 cylinder getting too hot and burning up (see other threads). I would say to accept that and be happy:D

Sorry to wake it back up. But i have a 2011 GT.. Only my 2nd day of owning but drove 200 miles home from the dealership i bought it from and got 26 MPG (through I26 in the smokey mountains so it wasnt flat driving) And TN interstates have many hills (not steep but gradual inclines) and im avg 24 on the hwy and around 15-18 city, ive driven it nice tho. I do notice it DRINKS the gas when you get on it..

Oh yea, its a 6spd with 3.73s

Updated mileage report:

With strict, short commuting trips (my office is 2.5 miles away)..and some stop n' go traffic, I get about 11.5-12.5 mpg with my AM SCT 93 Race tune. If I drive along in city traffic that's moving, I can get around 15 mpg.

Kinda a bummer, but....oh well. I don't think 3.73s are really to blame...it must be the tune.

its the stop and go and the short drive

the colder the engine the richer the mixture
