2012-5.0-6MT-CAI?-No Tune?-Tech Warning

Ford just came out with a new TSB concerning tuning, flashing, SCT etc etc that 'could void the warrenty' under certain conditions.

Spoke with a Ford Dealer Tech concerning the TSB. Was told while it's unlikely you are going to have a problem using a CAI, SCT etc when using it for 'spirited ' driving, he said the warning is there and Ford is keeping much closer track of ANY mods that come to a dealer with problems.

Latest edition of 5.0 had a two page article on a AIRAID install that was done with NO TUNE since the air tube restricture was put in place which the MAP has no problems handling. The dino pull showed about a 20hp, 20 lbs torque from the install with no tune.

To be on that safe side, and until this TSB gets a little more age on it, has anybody installed the AIRAID CAI that required no tune . . . and if so was the extra pull worth it. Were there any negatives except for the extra sound . . . if that's a negative.

I just got a Airaid CAI from American Muscle tonight, I havent installed it yet because Bama has to provide me with updated files. but Id say go ahead and get it and install it w/o a tune, its a proven CAI and its a top notch quality piece

That TSB is basically a procedure for technicians to take note of damage done to any engine that come in for warranty work. It instructs the tech to pull the PCM data and store it for future reference if the engine comes back damaged again. It even comes with pictures of ring land failure due to improper tuning. Basically get your tunes from reputable shops, in this day and age of saving bucks here and there avoid "scrappy pappy" type tuning places.

+1 above..DONT save $20 to put your car at risk.
I speak weekly with my sales guy and/or tuner from Steeda and discussed this issue, since they custom tuned my car. They told me there have been no probs with their tunes to date, and they are VERY CARFEFUL with leaning their mixture too much to avoid the heating problems as been seen in #8. They keep the fuel their for the "cooling" effect. Their test car (the silver one from the magazines) uses their own tune, and they "beat it" to death at the track and road coarses. It makes just above 400rwhp and there has been no problems with the car...Keep the updates coming.!
