I have been asking questions and reading about tires for my '65 coupe and now I need some help making my final selection. The car is powered by a 347 putting out about 425 HP. The rims are 17x7 so I am going with a 225/45/17 tire.

The car will only be drove during the summer on nice and sunny days. However, I am sure that I will be caught in the rain a handfull of times going to or coming back from shows that are located out of town. I prefer to carve corners on county roads then shave fractions of a second off of my 1/4 times so this car will be drove on the street 99.99% of the time.

With all of that said, I am looking for a tire that gives me good grip to put the power to the pavement but also performs decent in wet conditions for those rare times the car gets caught in the rain. I have come up with a list of recommended tires and would like your vote on the best bang for the buck. If you would go with a different tire than listed let me know!

Hi,

Which of these have the best skip pad ratings. Being an ex-road racer, I wouldn't worry so much about "spirited" curve carving in the rain as I would for those sunny days. If this is your priority, check the S/P ratings.
Happy Trails!

I had 2 different retailers tell me the KDW 2's were noisy and people were not happy with them. I ALMOST went with Hankook RS-3's, but the tire guy said he didn't have enough feedback on them to be able to recommend them. I ended up with the Yokohama S-drives on my new wheels. Plus they were on sale 20% off. they LOOK like excellent tires, but I can't comment on how they perform yet cause my car is still on a rack getting rust repairs done and my wheels/tires are stacked in the corner of my living room next to my newly upholstered seats (hell, who uses their living room anyway...lol). I do know my daughter put Yoks (not S-drives) on her car and it drives great, so they should be decent tires. these 'performance summer' tires wear so fast I figured if I don't like them I'll just get something else next time.
