CALLING ALL 2011 OWNERS, YOUR VOICES ARE NEEDED

Wow, how to respond to this?
Ford puts more emphasis on performance in the Mustang than entertainment. The car should be the entertainment. The Boss 302 isn't even available with sync.
If lack of a phone app is your number one complaint about your Mustang GT, maybe you're driving the wrong car.

I'm kinda surprised theres so much negativity towards this post.

Who cares if the mustang was designed to be a performance car? The bottom line is they put it in there because people like it/want it... or lets even say, they are TOLD to like it.

The bottom line is if its in the car it doesn't matter what YOU think ford did with the mustang, or what the 'purpose' of a mustang is.

They should support, and stand by the features they put in the car.

I understand the argument of 'what its sold with is what you get' -- such as dont expect homelink in your visors for 2011 just beacuse they have em' for 2012.

But this isn't the same thing... people weren't told when buying the 2011 that this is the cool features of sync enjoy! -- no they were told it was a constantly evolving system with great ways to update firmware when available.

The bottom line is the 'upgrades' ARE available, but mustang owners are left out in the cold.

Again it doesn't matter if you care for the upgrades, or if u bought your mustang for performance or a fun to drive daily driver...

Bottom line is you're told upgrades would be given, and they're not. (not yet anyway)

I stand by the OP.

First off let me just say starbai thank you! :hail2: You get it! Now as for pushrod power you obviously don't get it!:bang: I love my GT/CS... it's more than entertaining to drive(when pushed) its exhilarating but I don't care if you're driving a Ferrari or a dump truck, music makes it better(engine noise and exhaust nod only go so far). Ford's emphasis is on performance, total performance and that's probably why they came up with APPLINK. We paid for this high tech "upgradeable" system which should allow me to drive hard and pay attention to the road and not be distracted by my music and or phone. Every good car chase is only as good as its background music. Maybe you're not a tech guy so it doesn't appeal to you but I am and it's why i paid for the SYNC in the first place. Who says a car can't be fun to drive and be loaded with relevant technologies. If it didn't matter then why the hell did Ford develop APPLINK. Bottom line is and has been "UPGRADEABILITY", that's what they promised but have yet to deliver on.

The man is correct

If we look at this without all the emotion and acrimony the OP is correct. He paid for something that was sold as upgradeable by Ford, and Ford has not delivered. I am not saying that the upgrade should be free, a very modest upgrade fee would be an acceptable business practice.

Not delivering on promises creates a very bitter taste in the mouths of consumers and will lead to otherwise loyal brand customers seriously looking at the competition the next time they are going to spend hard earned money.

I think Ford made a VERY BAD decision in this case.

Sync was standard equipment on the GT/CS, you didn't pay extra for it. And if music is your thing you should have left off the Nav and gotten the Shaker 1000 instead.

However if I was looking for a 4cyl economy car, Honda, Toyota, and Nissan would have my business hands down before an American automaker. QUOTE]

Let's see, the 2012 Civic has already has 3 recalls, two of which required the cars to be off the showroom (missing suspension snubbers and leaking gas tank-my buddy is a parts manager at a Honda dealership), the Corolla is still getting by with a 4 speed auto and crappy gas mileage, and Nissan has been plagued with problems on it's CVT trans. The Focus? won every comparo it's been in. I know which car I'd buy, and most people too. We can't keep them, or Fiesta's on the lot. Literally.

Has it been verified that Ford really promised something or are people just assuming they did? I'd like to know the facts in this issue.

Upgradeability is a feature mentioned in sync advertising, on the "syncmyride" website and even in this thread by Ford customer service. I don't think many companies literally make "promises", lawyers don't like that!

But all the nitpicking aside, I can't see why anybody wouldn't go to the link posted and express their desire for the APPLINK feature. The Ford Story: Bring Applink to 2011 Mustang

Remember, Ford hasn't said we can't have it, they said they're researching it. Maybe the will research harder with a little "nudge" from the Mustang faithful.

LOl, I've been there like 3 times and I can't see where more than 8 people have voted, commented or whatever. Maybe people don't care?? I mean it's just friggin apps from your dang phone isn't it? I mean, am I missing something?

SYNC AppLink is currently only available factory-installed on the 2012 Mustang, and as a download on the 2011 Fiesta. I still can’t speculate on future availability for other models, but don't lose hope, we are researching for other lines. :) I'll keep you all posted.

I think thats ridiculous...

What is there to research???

Is there a hardware change between the 2012 and 2011 models?? To the best of my knowledge there isn't... which means this is strictly software... which further means there's nothing 'investigate' ford is just dragging their feet with releasing the software to us (if ever)

Now if the hardware is different then I understand.

SYNC is a standard feature on a GT/CS. Yes that's true but it's a $2,000 option on top of the premium GT. l'd say l paid extra for SYNC. Ford promises "UPGRADEABILITY" with SYNC. They upgraded the 2012's SYNC systems strictly on software. starbai is right, there isn't anything to research. lts already done, they just have to release it for '11. Can anyone explain why l'm getting so much resistance to what should be in everyone's intrest? l thought this was a MUSTANG community? Where's the support and comradery? So you don't want the best possible Mustang from Ford? l get that APPLINK isn't important to everyone. Read the OP, l ask for everyone's help in return for that same help when you need it. lt's not like l'm asking for money or large amounts of your time. Over 1,600 views for this thread, if half of those would've gone to the link and supported it we would've gotten a real response from Ford by now. Look l was originally just asking you all for your help with this. l still am, if you could spare a couple minutes l'd appreciate it. If not then please don't tell me what l should think or should've done or drive etc etc. For all of you who have helped and all that will hopefully help Thank you.

Sync is standard equipment on a Mustang GT Premium. You didn't pay $2000 for Sync. You probably weren't even thinking sync when you bought the car. Now all of a sudden Ford isn't doing enough for you because you can't get applink.
I want the best possible Mustang from Ford too, but when I think about the "Best" Mustang I'm think engine, tranny, handling, etc... Not applink.

Not an owner of a newer mustang, but just an observation. I don't use my cell phone when I drive. I don't text, I don't call. I have a bluetooth headset that sits unused in my center console. I would like to think other people on the road are busy paying attention to the road and not carrying on conversations on a cell phone, hands free or not. Your concentration is still not 100% dedicated to driving. I would especially think with a vehicle such as a Mustang with the power it has, not withstanding the safety features, your complete concentration should be on driving and driving alone.

Really? Really? pushrod power are you slow or something, did you take the short bus to school when you were a kid? When you go to a restaurant and order soup do they force you to wear water wings so you don't drown. Read the quote genius, l said the GT/CS is a $2,000 option on top of a premium GT. When you say SYNC is standard equipment on the premium GT you make it seem like it's free, its not free. If you pay MORE than a standard GT to get MORE in it, then it's not exactly "standard"is it? That's just used car salesman marketing at it "best". By the the way, you wouldn't happen to be a car salesman would you? Cause l find most car salesman think they're experts when it comes to cars. They're not! Mechanics are pretty close but only the engineers are true experts. l mean they can't make'em, they can't fix'em and anyone who reads the brochure knows as much about the car as the salesman. Kinda went off on a little tangent but it's about as relevant to my topic as you've been. Hey good luck with that soup and remember to KicK!

LOL...No offense, but if you paid 2K for SYNC, the short bus might just need to stop in front of YOUR house. BTW, I don't think anybody cares.

Mmmm, insults, where the weak-minded go when they run out of logic.

Let's see, I never said free, I said included in standard equipment, big difffence. And yes, it is included in the standard equipment list on your California Special. That is the left handed columns on your window sticker.

Standard equipment has nothing to do with marketing, it is just that; standard equipment. Try looking up the definition of marketing.

So you have to either work on cars or engineer them to know anything about them? Where does that come from? Do you think a mechanic knows what is standard equipment on a car? I know you don't.
