Hi guys,

I can get this for about $9000. It's got 125,000km on it, interior upgrade, Traction Control and manual transmission. It's black and it's got leather. I could finance a 2012 Mustang with Performance Package for around 30 grand, or I could pay cash and get the older one and be done with it!

I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Thanks.

The 2011 V6 is going to blow away any previous years by quite a large margin when it comes to performance.

If you're looking at 30k for a 2011 V6, I assume it's pretty loaded. You may also want to keep in mind that you could probably pick up a base 2011 or 2012 GT for only a very little more, if not the same price.

thanks for the response. you know the 2005's engine is still bigger and output more torque at lower revs(?) i'm not sure, just thinking maybe that would translate to comparable off the line acceleration.

...also I'm wondering with 125,000km on that car, how reliable is it going to be, as in will I have to go though a lot of repairs over the next say 4 years?

The 2005 makes 240lb @ 3500 while the 2011 makes 280lb @ 4250 - both of those numbers are pretty accessible off the line. They're definitely different setups, but I think it would still go to the 2011 in most situations (although, I've never actually driven a 2011+ V6 personally).

125,000km on a 5-6 year old car is pretty typical for a daily driver. So long as it was well maintained, I wouldn't worry about it :D

If it were me, I think the decision would come down to how long I planned on keeping the car. Any more than 3 or 4 years and it would go to the 2011.

OK. Well a older high mile car is going to need maintainance. Maybe
even serious like a transmission.Tires, battery, belts hoses, etc. New car, no problems only basics,
like oil change. Your in full warranty.
Youll have a higher resale with a new car down the line when you go
to sell. The 05 will be near worthless in a couple of years.
Put say 4k down payment on the 12 and your ahead of the game with 5k still in your pocket.

Payments?

Lets see $30,000 - $4,000 = $26,000

$26,000 @1.9% for 60 months = $454.59/M x 60 = $$27,274.40

Just miss a few payments because you run into some financial difficulty and you will get a visit from the repo man :(
