hey i was thinking of doing a v10 swap. and i was wondering does anyone know if someone still makes the modified oil pan need for the swap?

i wanna do the swap because it's different. i've already looked into the size and weight difference of the 6.8 to 5.4.

thanks.

5.4's BARELY fit in our engine bays.. I don't even want to see the shoe horn you will need to the get V-10 in our bays. GL with your search and build.

It'll fit but it's kind of a dumb swap.

A 4.6 or a 5.4 with a blower will be a far better performer (and, frankly, sound better) than a V10. The car will be weighted better and it'll be easier to find bolt-on performance parts for a 4.6 or 5.4.

If you must (and you know you won't), I think Canton used to make a pan for this swap though I can't find it on their site now. Not a very popular swap and thus no demand I guess...

The 6.8L V10 is very much a truck engine. It makes peak power around 4650, so it is about as revy as an asthmatic NPI. It also weighs around 650lbs compared to 500lbs for an iron 4.6.
It would definately be unique and fun, but it will still sound like a truck engine and won't be much fun shifting just before 5k.

Yes, but doing some headwork and getting some rev happy cams to match a sheetmetal short runner intake would make it quite a beast. It would be far from a cheap work, but would definitely be one of the most unique swaps in a Mustang. Remember the 05-09 Aston V12 swapped Mustang in a mag? Definitely badass, although the corresponding body work was fugly!!

Buddy had a V10 Excursion, it'd shift at 6k WOT and pulled that tank strongly up to that point.

Don't think it's physically wider than a 5.4, and I've always liked how they sound. Much different than a Viper V10, much better IMO.

The 5.4 and v10 are the same height and width, its just length that is different.
sohc v10s love boost. You can get a v10 cheap now, and then rebuild with lightning rods/pistons and you are golden.
Go for it buddy. you can even get an SCT xcal3 to tune the truck ecu

The v10 mustang that FORD built is WAY different then a typical triton v10. Ford had cut a set of castings of the 4valve head and added a cylinder in there, but used the original lower end. Then they built that intake to fit it.....BUT they couldnt get an engine management for it, so they actually ran it as TWO 5cylinders with the same crank signal. It ran well most of the time, but sometimes it would hitch and run rough, so you shut it off and restart and it was fine again.

HOWEVER
Ford Australia did it right, and cast an aluminum v10 block and 4valve heads, with not stock cams as well. But being australia they had to be awesome, they called up haltec (which does a lot of oem computers for australia) and had haltec design them an engine management and harness for the car.
Their version was awesome. I cant remember but it may have even been right hand drive.

Sounds like a wiring nightmare. All the custom lines that have to be made, etc. You can make more power with less money by buying a supercharger and bolt it on in a day. A v10 swap would take months or years. Not to mention all custom parts would have to be made for it to make power. It's a truck engine with low end torque made for towing.
