plugs for back of heads

I need to plug the back of the heads on m 89 and i am having trouble finding a pipe plug with the correct threads size, i know ford offers those plugs but my local dealer says they can not find them if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated? second question i have is i have the motor out replacing all of the gaskets etc and i am having trouble getting the old timing cover seal out any tips?

It might sound silly but you can actually put some old spark plugs in there and then smash the porcelain out of them. They fit perfect :) As for the timing cover seal I would spray it down with pb-blaster or something similar. It will pop out, its just a really tight fit
 
There is a local smiley's here that I get mine from. They sell a lot of dirt track parts and apparently Chevy guys use those to repair the block when they mess up the threads for headnote. So they keep them in stock.
 
ACE Hardware, right in the hardware trays. Again, only cost like a buck each.

Might be a good idea to pickup a 5/8-11 tap or bolt, too. Those threads are most likely all carboned up and need to be cleaned before ya go screwing the plug in. Go easy and keep it soaked with some lube or carb cleaner.
 
thanks for all the help guys i went to westlake, homedepot etc and no of them had that thread size and i work at an auto parts store and my brass company didn't have either so i broke down and called ford they had them in stock but they were fifteen bucks each oh well had to have them.
