2011 Mustang & 2012 Mustang transmission scrutinized

'11 GT/CS manual....10,000+ miles. Never a tranny problem yet. Not saying there will or won't be, but at this point, it is great. Changed the fluid per TSB about 2000+ miles back and it is smoother. My dealer seems pretty good so I am not real concerned.

I unplugged the skip shift solenoid with less than 1000 miles on the car. I also do not worry about plugging it in when I go for service.

Screaming on the net does not get a car fixed.....it just finds info of others with the problem. Oh well, out to check its function one more time......honest officer, I had to smoke them in 2nd to make sure the tranny worked correct.....lol

13,000 miles on my 2011 5.0 6-spd and no problems with shift quality. Most of the time the skip-shift doesn't activate, but when it does I figured out you can push the shifter over to 2nd gear if you catch it soon enough. I usually just ignore that and leave it in 4th. Even starting in 4th the Coyote is faster than most cars. :)

Only 300 miles on my 12 GT but I feel the tranny is silky as could be!
Skip shift has lit up maybe 3 or 4 times but once you cross the 3000
RPM threshold in first, it is never a problem. I had purchased some
Royal Purple Synchromax tranny fluid for my 04 GT but totaled the
darn car B4 I got it put in!! Does my '12 use this same stuff?? If so,
at the 2000 mark, I will have it put in. Let me know! Thanks

Getting my 6MT 5.0 in about two months time, overall I see people are happy with it so Im sure I will too! I will never forgive myself for buying this car with this engine and getting the auto.

Hee Hee, why did you do that?? There must be a good reason
that MADE you do it!!!! You will still love it; it's just more fun
to control your own gears and RPM range!!!
Enjoy,
David

I have a 12 with 1600 miles. The shifts are "notchy" but never any grinding of gears nor have I not been able to put it into a gear.

First to second seems to be the worst.

Hi ssbauer,

You may want to visit your dealer so they can determine if there is any cause for concern on the shifting pattern. You are also welcome to take a similarly equipped Mustang for a test drive to see if it behaves in the same manner. If you need any additional help, please let me know. Have a great weekend! :)
