Build Thread "Rising from Ashes" 94 Cobra build thread

When does all this start to get on the car? Haven't seen the car in pages. All that stuff looks great.

That's a good question. I need to finish the body work get all the blocking done and basicly have the car in primer and ready for a final primer block. Install the drive train, tune, Work the bugs out, then remove and paint the car and just reassemble.

I just needed a break from the body work so I focused on getting the drive train ironed out.

Its more work this way but reduces the risk of scratching or harming paint. I am sure I will have to break out the BFH at least once.

Yeah I would agree with you on the coil bracket. I've been thinking about making up a cover like I had on my old car, polishing it and that would take care of matching up the other side.

Is that chrome radiator hose a fox vortech radiator pipe with the stock 94-95 upper hose cut in the ends ?

Is it this pipe ?

My old Powerdyne didn't come with a radiator hose setup. So the one pictured below is what I used. I think its made by Mac and I just cut and modified it to fit my powerdyne.

If I remember right from back when I had a Powerdyne on my 94, it came with a similar radiator hose to the Vortech fox kit.
Yes , I had seen some 94-95 with powerdyne using that radiator pipe . My doubt is if it will fit with stock upper hose cut in the ends ...

You did a amazing job modifying the tube . I don't like how Mac hose looks in the original design . By the way , everything that you did in the blue stang and you are making now in the Cobra are amazing :hail2: !!!

Wow this is my favorite thread...kevin you do awesome work thanks for taking the time to post everything..can't wait to see this thing together

Thanks... I'm glad you are enjoying it.

I've spent the most of my time the last two weeks finishing and uploading my website for the powdercoating business. I'm not going to post a link right now because I don't want to turn this thread into a ad for it. I will eventually put a link in my signature.

Completed my Maximum Motorsports Suspension setup with the A-arms I got off ebay. I broke them down and powdercoated them wrinkle black to match my rear control arms and the new MM K-member I bought last year.

Matched the k-member perfectly. Went ahead and bolted them up. I love how well put together MM stuff is.

Fascinating! What an amazing build. You keep mentioning "boring" pictures, but post them up! That's how people learn.

Reading through this thread I've been racking my brain trying to recall a black T-Top Fox at Mustang Week, but I don't recall seeing you. This was my car: Mustang Week 2011 Autocross First Run - YouTube and Mustang Week 2011 Autocross Second Run - YouTube

Just out of curiousity...why did you powdercoat the rear caliper brackets black instead of red? When I did mine, I was trying to match them to the Bullitt/Mach I special edition sets. The brackets on those were red.

Agreed, it's hard to tell what other people will learn from. I don't post on this thread much, but I have been watching it religiously. I've learned more from this thread than the rest of stangnet.

Thanks Jonathan! That means a lot coming from you. I'm really appreciate all your help on the calipers. Looking at your two runs at Mustang week, it looks like your brakes are working pretty well. I didn't get to Mustang week till Thursday afternoon, but next year, I am planning on going early.

I did two sets of brackets since I pulled the set off my old car that burned and a set off my current project. I did one set in red and one in black...trying to decided which I like best.

Thanks man! I really appreciate the kind words.

I am still working on polishing the Vortech... SO far I have got thru the cast surface and at least got it smooth where I can now start working up in grits.

I'm not sure if a Polished Vortech comes with these pockets polished, but I can understand why it wouldn't. Most of my time has been spent on these pockets.

Actually No, the Polished Vortech kit is exterior only and just in a few places. Here is the polished kit from Vortech. As you can see the squares are not polished, regular finish only. Don't know how they can charge for Polished kit and not polish the entire unit.

^^^^^
Thanks for posting those pics. Makes me feel a lot better about spending all this time on little pockets and small areas. Does the back ribbed section come polished where the power pipe connects?
I know Vortech charges around $350 to polish a unit, but if thats just to polishing the easy to reach stuff, its way overpriced IMHO.

For the most part the unit is completely polished. The only places they realy left out were in the tight crevices and the honeycomb area by the pulley. You can tell though that the only places they really focused on and spent a lot of time polishing are the parts of the case that are easily seen. (Honeycomb by the pulley being the exception)

95steedamustang - I know it has been said before but this is a truly amazing build, you are a true enthusiast. I am practically speechless. The time, effort, and cost in your machine's is phenomenal. I commend you for your attention to detail and patience. I hope to restore my 94 to showroom condition over the next few years and you have truly inspired me.
