Sold my fox for a 2011 f150

Yeah the Diesel trucks are sick now a days. My friends 2008 F250 Supercrew Powerstroke put down 525hp and 1033ftlbs on the dyno with a few simple mods and a built tranny. It's fun driving around a 8300 pound truck that runs 12's....you should see the look on people's faces when they get left behind in a cloud of coal smoke:rlaugh:

The original poster did not buy a heavy truck or a powerful one....

haha yup, nothing better then picking on imports with a quick diesel.

Well thanks for everyone that dislikes moding a truck. Whats it matter if its a v6 truck? It makes more or the same hp as most v8 trucks. Ive beat a titan and a hemi ram so far so does that still make it dumb to mod? Just because its a truck doesnt mean u just need to haul **** with it and thats it. Whats wrong with doin something different? How would you feel If a v6 truck pulled up and kicked your ass? Especially a 2v stang. With bolt ons their still slow pos's. And you guys that like lightnings so much (i do love them to) are gonna go bankrupt with them unless u leave it bone stock youll be pickin up the rods of the side of the road.

Ok, I'm totally with you on how nice the new trucks are, but let's not get silly here. A 2V Mustang would still gang rape your 3.7L powered F150. Especially one with bolt ons.

Sure the 3.7L makes 302hp, but it's still hauling around 5,000lbs+ through a slushbox automatice and runs a high-15-second quarter mile.

Even the slowest of the 2V Mustang runs more than a full second faster than that in stock trim and the PI headed 2V cars will run nearly a half second faster than that still. With bolt ons....don't even bother showing up.

:lol::lol::lol::rlaugh::lol::lol::lol:

FYI Not dislike the truck just dislike the sold the fox to get a truck you say in your first post you wanted a daily driver then talk about all of the bolt on crap to make it go fast am I missing something here??? Second this is a fox Forumn ummmmmm Duh :nono: of course most of us are not going to be supportive of someone selling their Fox for a truck payment. :notnice::nono:

I would suggest to you that you find a v-6 truck payment forumn and go brag about your bolt ons and so on and so forth there because the BS your shoveling is getting Thick:Zip2:

Anything can be made fast with the right amount of money. The real question is why would you want to start out with something that weighs 5000 lbs. and has the aerodynamics of a brick?

its 7000lbs, and i really havent put much money into it. as someone mentioned before, a custom tune in a diesel can add 250hp+ and still give you a fully streetable dd. im not advocating having a financed truck that you mod and take to the drag strip, but before you shrug them off as a 5000lb truck with the aerodynamics of a brick you should definitely look at what they can do. i have the best of both worlds, a fox and a truck. as a matter of fact, since my fox is relatively stock, im looking forward to towing it to the track with the truck and taking them both out and seeing which is faster lol. im betting the truck.

That made me laugh. When you say beat a titan and hemi ram do you mean that you raced them to 45mph, and they quit at 35?

BTW, i had a stock lightning and it went 13.55 at 102mph consistently. Gonna take alot for you to keep up with that.

I have founds tons of info from their boards and I am sure you guys could have great conversations about trucks and trying to go fast in them.

I disagree with your choice because of my own logic, if you didn't want to hear it I assume you would not be posting your decisions on the World Wide Web. I don't know what you paid for your truck but i assume it was more thatn 15k, I know you can get into a 03ish Lightning for around $15000 that already has 380hp and supporting drivetrain. If you wanted a fast truck why not start there? If you wanted a RELIABLE daily driver truck with factory warranty and decent fuel economy you made a wise choice, but when you come on here and start talking about mods and making the truck fast....

Live your life, do it your way and enjoy your truck. These are just my thoughts and opinions.

That's not a truck, it's a car with a potential jacuzzi in the back.

Is this your only vehicle now?

The cool thing about a good reliable DD is that you can just have a nice truck and go wild on your project. You can put in some steep gears, a nasty cam, take out all the "luxury" items and it's just badass. My fox, I wouldn't do what I have done to it if it was a DD. I tear it down, or break it, oh well, I have time to fix it. Trust me, I've done both roads, and it's better to leave the DD alone.

With my 90GT, when it started getting "nasty" I got a beater car, a 1993 Grand Am. Having a POS car sucked. I hated that car, so that didn't work.

Got my 02 Silverado when the motor went out on the 90GT. Got rid of the beater.

I had the money before I bought my '88. I was thinking of doing a 6.0 Vortec Max swap into my current truck because everything would just bolt right up. I've seen a truck like mine where they guy had that swap done on a short bed regular cab truck. He had exhaust done, and it was of course progrmammed, but he was eating pullied lightnings with no problem. That truck was nasty, and "stock" for the most part. I even considered a turbo system that I saw on an identical truck like mine that made it run 12.8 in the 1/4. Well, that was all good, but I just wasn't going to have my project be what I depend on. So I got my fox. I don't look back on that.

It's not about anything against modding a truck, it's that trading in your foxbody to get a truck to go fast doesn't make sense. In reguards to " How would you feel If a v6 truck pulled up and kicked your ass?" well I'm sure it could happen if someone was just obsessed to make a point and their pockets were deep enough but I don't see it happening. Yeah, yeah you might manage to pull a little on an old worn out foxbody driven by someone who can't drive or know how to make them run right but I can promise you this, you won't have a chance or prayer against my Foxbody. Mine is bone stock with 190K from the air box to the oil pan to the stock exhaust manifolds and a stock AOD transmission (untouched converter) and I'm running a 8.6 at 87mph in the 1/8th. Hey if you couldn't get a fox to really run you definatly won't get a F150 to run. Just saying.... there is far more potential in a foxbody and you can get one cheap and they are cheap to mod so why not? $ vs $ the fox road will win.

I have no issue with modding a truck, I have a lot of respect for people that can make something that big go fast. However I wouldn't do that (spray) to a new truck (hell not even a new 5.0) especially when the reason you bought the 3.7 was either: A) you wanted the gas mileage so you went with less displacement OR: B) You can't afford the V8 and as such won't be able to afford the repair costs for blowing your motor once warranty is voided because you ran spray through it

Just sayin'
