One difference is the finish and grade of material used. Most use a decent stainless steal now so you dont have to worry about rust. As far as sound goes, I love the sound of Bassani and Borla. Also you have to decide what you like the looks of because it is very easy to see mufflers on s197s. Try checking out youtube if possible and look up sound clips. I have done that for hours before deciding on my exhaust.

Yeah, the problem with youtube is that it's hard to make sure what you hear is what you have in the engine and mods, coupled with the exhaust. AM was all stock vs the upgrade. I listened to them for 2 weeks before I decided on the bassani. Good luck and post up a video when you get it installed.

Never buy exhaust becouse it sounds good on YT.
Check internet for opinions, find one's that don't drone, maybe FRPP GTA's,
when you don't want so loud and want deep tone, check pypes street pro, not expensive and very little drone.

I have the Magnaflow, not Magnapack, and am quite pleased with them. I went with a "Cat-back" system. Nice deep tone at idle and not too loud under normal driving. However, when I step on the loud peddle, well I know it. Also sounds pretty good with the howl from the CAI adding some more base.:D:D

The American Muscle videos are great ear candy. The stock car has it's volume turned down and the axle backs are turned up. They all sound good/different, but not good enough to swing me either way for a $450 axle back.
I bought a Pypes Violater for my 2008 and I'm not impressed. It soundes like a truck with the muffler removed and a tailpipe installed. Glug, glug glug...!

I bought an MBRP axle back for my car...basically because I wanted their slick looking double wall tips. I couldn't find much on it, just a couple so-so youtube videos and a couple vague testimonies from people that had owned it.

As it turns out...#1 I got it for $330 and it's all polished 304, #2 it sounds great (unmistakably mustang), and #3 it hardly drones at all. Actually, for me it drones more around ~2300-2400 rpm (75 mph) than it does dead on 2000 rpm. I usually cruise about 70, roughly 2100-2200 rpm, with no drone at all. Hoping it will stay that way when I put on an X pipe.

mufflers

I have Pypes Violators w/stock cats and sry but I don't hear trucks except for maybe something similar to the 01 Lightning I had. If it can sound like that then I'm fine with it. It sounds fine to me--does drone a bit but WTH. Why get high perf mufflers if u can't take the sacrifices that come with em. Maybe someone can come up with a volume control. If you don't want noise then stay stock/quiet-it sounds OK stock-just needs some volume.. I have Pypes LTs and OR h-pipe on order. Can't wait 'til they're installed and I can make more noise and go a little faster. Just get some decent ones and enjoy the noise. Big boyz toyz make a lotta noize-cuz we like it!

+1 for Pypes Violators. Freaking awesome sound. I had my Pypes LT headers and O/R H-pipe installed back in August. Sounds amazing if you like a growl that starts hammering and gets LOUD when you get on it. The entire Pypes system with Brenspeed Detroit Rockers sounds amazing at idle as well. Beastly! Oh, and the LT's with Cams picked me up 50 RWHP, which was nice.
