What are your goals?

What kind of price range?

Billstien are truely remarkable shocks for both comfort and performance, however they are quite expensive, however I feel that they are worth it. Your shocks and struts have so much to do with ride quality and handling.

KYB's are also good performers, but they don't ride too good to say the least. I had them for a while in my old fox.
Lakewoods I have now, but mine is a drag car setup. 90/10's on the front, 50/50 on the rear.

Another good recomendation would be Monroe, they ride and perform well for a reasonable price.

Anyway, anything is going to beat a set of stockers.

I just replaced mine about 2 months ago with the " super touring" from the parts store, ride PERFECT! But, I'm taking them off and going with lakewood 90-10's and 50-50's....:nonono:
The "horizontal" shock is called the QUAD shock if thats what your asking. . .

My 90 GT is all original.......I mean nothing has been replaced in 21 years, original mufflers (with holes in them), cassette player, OE wheels & wheel locks w/paperwork....I really feel lucky to have found and now own such an original stang.

Every stang has had something done..........but not this one........and still runs like a bat out of hell & the A/C still works w/R12.....with perfect like new black interior......

The struts, shocks & quad shocks (thanks for that info) are all original, I like bilstein but I dont see tha quad shock available from them.

My goal here is to replace all, with the OE spring rate....I do not want to lower the car, I prefer the original height......I'll be posting a pic of my prise soon.....thanks to all of you who have offered recommendations.....

It depends on what you want to do with the car. If you just want some comfy replacements that are good for cruising there are tons out there. If you want track/street performance you might consider something adjustable. Some of the nicest best performing shocks/struts I've ever used are Tokico D-Specs. Also called HTS's. They are infinitely adjustable and give amazing quality ride at soft setting and full on drag/auto x/drift performance at stiffer levels. They are spendy though and sometimes not available for every model. As far as the horizontal shocks go in the rear, they are meant to control wheel hop in the rear. There aren't too many aftermarket ones available that I know of. Everyone in the Mustang world calls them quad shocks but a lot of parts vendors also call the steering shocks.

SOME people (I am one of them) recommend upgrading your rear control arms and completely removing the quad shocks. Ford put the quad shocks on the Foxes to keep the axle from winding up and hopping around on the flimsy factory control arms with their soft rubber bushings. When you upgrade to, for example, tubular control arms with polyurethane bushings, the quad shocks are not necessary because the axle does not wind up or hop around with the good control arms. Interestingly enough, you can buy really nice upper & lower control arms for less than $200 and they improve traction in a straight line and in the corners. Win-win!

I would also guess after 20 years the quad shocks are toast anyway. If doing shock and struts I would recommend control arms out back at least like mentioned above. We went with adjustable Strange front struts and rear shocks. Also went with TeamZ control arms all around and ditched the trashed quad shocks.

Nothing left for this quad shock to except add weight.

This is an aftermarket Monroe, still trashed.

Yep, I run the adjustable Strange strut/shocks on my car (with FRPP progressive rate springs and Steeda control arms). I like the Strange stuff so far, though I end up pretty much always running them on a very soft setting. They get really rigid and bouncy on the higher settings, which would be good in an auto-X application, but not on the street. Good strut/shock for the money.

Exactly, TeamZ sells rear Strange 10-Way adjustable shocks for like $69.00, Strange 10-Way adjustable front struts for $119. Their not over priced. I had Tockico 5-way adjustable struts which were so expensive. Sad part is I could've just bought the non-adjustables for a lot less since I never adjustable the 5-way's anyway. Some adjustables are crazy, Billstein comes to mind.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the Tokico 5 ways, but the D-Specs are infinitely adjustable. Literally 1000's of tuning possibilties. They are expensive but I've never used a better product. I've got QA1 12 ways on my 86 right now and I really like them as well.
