I'm shopping for a set of trim rings for my gauges. I have found them at 3 different places, and I'm wondering if they are all the same product.

American Muscle has them for $35, but there are a lot of complaints of poor fitment and difficult installation. Mustang Chrome Gauge Bezels, Gauge Rings (94-04) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Stang Mods has them for $39. Mustang Instrument Gauge Dress Up Kit

Ebay has a set for $20. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-0...ries&hash=item256742fae3&_trksid=bvizzzzzzOkz

Does anyone have any experience with these, or know of another place that sells them?

Go with the American Muscle ones. I have them, they all fit fine except one or two- I put a small amount of super glue on them so they wouldn't move around or fall out. The hardest part is taking off the clear plastic cover- I cracked mine in about 10 places.

I have different rings but speaking to your difficulty installing concern, the only hard part (and it is hard) is separating the plastic lens. I used a heated knife and worked my way around the plastic. Be patient. it took me about a half hour, but no cracks. I used silicone dots to reassemble and let it set up for another half hour. looks awesome.

I got the ones from American Muscle a few months ago....and the fit was HORRIBLE...there was no way they would snap in, or stay in at all...OTOH they did look great ...I think I will trim the back a bit with a Dremel and just glue them in place...

if you decide to glue them, I'd advise against using "super glue", the fumes that kind of glue gives off can permanently fog clean plastic...and no, you don't need to remove the lens from the bezel to install the trim rings

I bought and installed the ones from american muscle. I managed to get them on without separating the clear lens from the black background. Just be careful and slide them thru the holes at an angle. The small plastic flanges that hold the rings in place are not strong. Be gentle when snapping them on, making sure they dont bend or else you will have to glue them. I only had a problem with my tach ring because the flange bent a little. Still managed to get them on without glue. Had them for about 2 years, hit alot of bumps, but they are still hanging in there.

Are the rings too big or too small?

in my case both; the "snaps" on the back were too small to hold it in place and the rings were too big to fit cleanly in the holes in the bezel...like the molds were worn out and/or there was too much chrome coating on them

I have a Mach 1 and a GT bezel and the fit was the same in each of them...the rings could almost be inserted into the hole, but the tabs wouldn't keep them in

I am going to take a Dremel to them this weekend to see if I can make them fit in an acceptable manner.
