One of the few bitches I have is the lack of either paddle shifters or a manual way to run up and down the gears like I have on my 03 X-Type Jaguar. The J-Gate on that trans is a joy to use.

I am very impressed the power this car has, MUCH more than my Jag. However, although it handles great, the Jag feels more stable and smooth on rough roads because of the independent rear as opposed to the live rear on the Stang.

I am also very impressed with how quiet the car is, I never expected a convertible to be so tight. I hope that I will be saying the same thing 3 years from now :nice:

Gas mileage seems to be about 19 mpg with heavy doses of stop & go with a bit of highway. I have not done a highway run to see how that is. I think the active bar chart gauge instead of an actual mileage read out is just plain stupid and useless, it would have not cost Ford any additional money to have the gauge display a mileage figure instead of the bars.

I love the Sync navigation that works with my EVO 4G phone.

One thing I dislike intensely is the speedometer, it is great for the retro look but sucks for telling you how fast you are going, very hard to read accurately with a quick look. IMHO it is the poorest design on a modern car that I have seen.

Now I need a bit of help. When I ordered the car i forgot to tell the dealer to order the soft boot MSRP $160 invoice $139, I realized that about a week later and he added it to the order. However when the car came the factory did not add it. To order it from parts it is now approximately $400. I Googled the item and looked on ebay, but it seems that no one is making an after market boot for the 2011/12. Does anyone know of a boot that fits or do you have one that is from the factory that you do not use or want and would like to sell?

My overall impression is an 8.5 out of 10 and I very glad I bought this car instead of one of the pre-owned Audi S4 Quattro's that I was considering :D

You ordered the boot and paid for it but didnt get it? Go back to the dealer and make em get it to you...Charging you again is BS i would make em give me the boot since ive already paid, show em your order to prove it and then find a new dealership...thats sketchy...

Of course I didn't pay for it:) it was added to the order and I was not billed. As Don Iumus says I might have been born at night, but not last night:D

Oh i c lol, Well the dealer steal wants you to pay retail even though you told them you wanted it?

I bought a 2010 Jeep Wrangler back in the summer of 09' and my jeep was being cleaned up when i got there to pick it up so to show my father what i bought i wanted to look at one just like the one i bought.

I bought one with a hard top... so the salesman i had been working with took me to a jeep that was suppose to be just like it, he opend all the doors and in the back was the soft-top to the jeep. It had the hard top as well but the soft top was in plastic in the back... So i asked; Does mine have the soft top as well and he said "Yep im pretty sure it does"... I get the jeep get it home (was in a hurry to make my nephew's birthday) and looked the next day and saw that there was no soft top...

Called em up and told em and told em what he had said, they wanted me to pay retail for it, i refused and told them that he had mentioned before that there was one with it and it would have been cheaper to add it then instead of now...

Long story short, after about 5 min on the phone they agreed to order one on their dime for me...

Dont settle bro, it doesnt matter if its the dealers fault or Ford's fault make sure you get what you wanted, you shouldnt be out 300+ extra bucks cause someone forgot something.

Speedometer is over-rated

Oh congrats on the new car! Just got my baby a few months back. I get so many looks of jealousy and hate when that silky top goes down. I bet you get tons of stares, too.

No stares of jealousy or envy, here in NYC there are $100,000 + cars all over the place. BMW's and MB are a dime a dozen. Rolls Royce and Bentley convertibles can be seen on a weekly basis. There is a VERY long wait at the Ferrari dealership to get one. Since I am in the real estate business I can tell you that there is more money in this town than any other city in the world, bar none. When some European, Middle Eastern or Chinese person with great wealth is looking to invest, this is the place they come to.

Our Mustang convertibles are pretty low on the food chain, but I love mine any way :nice:

I am sorry to hear that. I live in Kentucky so I am near the top of the status totem pole. Even when people see the occasional Mercedes or BMW it is so far out of their reach that they ignore it's very existence. Ferrari's and Lambo's do not exist in these parts.

Here, the Mustang cabriolet fits perfectly into the slot right between "if I could just get that raise" and "ohh he must be rich". When I bought it I wasn't really planning on getting so much attention; most likely I would have in fact frowned upon it. I must say a few months in and I really am enjoying the little ego boost.

I am glad that you are considered one of the top dogs :)

I just get a kick out of the car and am having fun.
When a lot of the BMW and Benz drivers see me with the top down and my hot and sexy wife next to me, I know they are saying to themselves, Hum, why didn't I buy the vert instead of the hardtop ? :rlaugh:

There we go this guy knew exactly what was being said, without having to point it out directly. I find myself looking at my RPMs, more than a speedometer

Exactly.. after having the beast for a couple months, I don't even really need to look down at the tach either. You can just tell within about 5mph what speed you are going knowing what gear you are in and how the car sounds. Gotta love driving a stick! :D

Shift ?

I don't see the point in buying a manual. I prefer the hands free option. We have been outsourcing mundane chores like these for decades.

Look; I pay a guy to mow my yard, trim my hedges, wash my cars, pick up my teacup Maltese feces, clean my house, and cook most of my meals. Why in the world would I shift gears on my own?

Why bother to shift ?
If I have to shift I can't keep my right hand where it belongs, on my wife or girlfriend :D

WTF? I swear to holy crap I cant believe what I'm reading from a friggin chick-6 owner. If I had a chick-6, I would prolly prefer a auto also. Blown away.

I guess you are making fun of me for the size of the motor in my new cabriolet. That is fine; I am new to online forums so I will laugh at it.

The only reason I bought my car was to elicit jealous stares of envy from non cabriolet owners. Here in Kentucky owning a cabriolet puts you at the top of the status totem pole.

I don't care about racing. I get my jollies by making Mr. and Mrs. Camry green with envy as they watch my silky cabriolet top retract into the confines of my trunk. Seem's like it's much more responsible than supercharging my car, gutting my cats, dropping my spare, and racing soccer moms in minivans between stop signs in 20mph school zones?

No, I'm not a racer at all, but when mustang owners start posting about needing paddle shifters for their 6 cylinders and refer to their convertible as a "cabriolet" and how it has status in KY, then to me, the whole conversation has turned, "teh ghe;)y".
