small evap leak

According to the OBD code my 2003 GT has a very small leak in the evap system. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions as to where to look for the problem. The engine light comes on about 500 miles after I clear the code. My car has about 85000 miles on it. Thanks for any help.

Try a gas cap first, buy one from ford, or get a smoke leak detector. Good luck mine was throwing this code all winter last year and magically disappeared. Watch I bet mine willl come on on the way to work tomorrow.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to try a new gas cap first. I talked to my mechanic, he said sometimes these little leaks can be a pain in the butt to find.

+1 to the smoke. If you are having a mechanic do the work, I am sure he'll catch it with relative ease. Usually the gas cap or the grommet on the filler neck.

Yeah my CVPI gets this error too. I just reset the code every 500 miles or so.
