Throttle Body

Gears are the biggest bang for your buck mod there is for these cars, period. Exhaust is a nice piece as well as a short throw shifter, but gears is the best thing you can do if you haven't yet. I think everyone has said that already and if you haven't driven a higher geared mustang well, you won't understand.

ya i was thinking about going with 3.73 but then i was not sure gears or cold air haha. ya i want to do my exhaust but its going to be a little wile its going to be like 1300

Gears arn't too cheap if you don't do the install yourself. I went ahead and let someone else install mine as getting everything set up in the proper place. It will be cheaper than exhaust. 3.73's are good, I have them and I like em. I would say it depends how much you drive the car is what ratio I would put in yours.

i want to do 4.10 but i dd it and every month or 2 i go to the take 3 hr drive it would be a hole tank ya some1 told me they could do 3.73 with install for like 210$

Im so tired of hearing the "Im going to get 3.73's because Im concerned about gas mileage". The difference between 4.10's and 3.73's are not much. Just go with the 4.10's.

I dd my 4.10 car and get 20-22mpg's.

There is a BIG difference between 3.73s and 4.10's. 4.10s make highway driving really ****ty. 3.73's can be lived with everyday.

Ask me how, i know.

You call 200rpm a "BIG difference"? The difference between 4.10's and 3.73's @ 60-70mph is around 200rpm, any ratio calculator will tell you this. Is there a difference? Yes. However, when it comes to fuel mileage, 200rpm is not that big a difference.

Like I said, I get about 21mpg highway with 4.10's AND a 4-spd auto. Im interested to hear what your mpg's between the two were and how you drove the car as such.

Ratio calculators are one thing... I hear the final drive gear in a t56 is not much different than a t45... My 94 formula would do 90 mph at 1850 rpm in 6th... My 98 gt with stock gears is way about 1850 that's for sure.

But then again... I have to take my shoes off to count to 30!:p

I did a before and after test with my gears.

3.27 gears - 18mpg town
4.10 gears - 20mpg town
3.27 gears - 25mpg hwy
4.10 gears - 24mpg hwy

The driving in town was to different locations and different speeds, so it's not 100% accurate. The Highway driving on the other hand is 100% accurate. That is me filling up at the exact same location, driving the exact same speed, the exact same distance.

As far as the TB goes. I'm a very firm believe in both the CAI, and bigger TB's/plenum. When I did mine, I know I could feel a difference.

BUT, if you are still on stock exhaust, I would definitely put an aftermarket mid pipe on the car and catback before a bigger TB/Plenum.

There you have it (and that is a 3.27 vs 4.10 comparison). The difference in fuel economy is negligible. The difference performance-wise is noticeable.

Using the MPG argument for the "3.73 vs. 4.10" debate is stupid.

I love my 4.10's. Every mustang that I get in the future that is not turbo'd, will have atleast a 4.10 gear. If it's a 4v, 4.30's. Don't fear the gear.

Best do the math first if you plan on racing it. With a stock height tire, 4.10s only allow for 110 mph in the 1/4 at 6000 rpm. For my car, that'd be WAY to much. 3.90s would be borderline, while 3.73s would probably be just about right.

For reference, 3.73s allow for 122 mph at 6k rpm in 4th gear. 3.90s allow for 117.

Well if a person is serious about racing the car, they are not going to run on stock 25" tires. I run my car on 26" slicks, and at 6,200 RPM, my car is trapping 118mph. I know that one for a fact.

As the car gets faster, ie cams, intake, ported heads, ect. The shift points will be going up, and how high I let the car rev will also be going up. So my mph capabilities will also go up.

With 4.10's I've hit 113 in the 1/4 on a 26" drag radial. Was turning right around 6100 according to the tach.

I also have seen 25mpg highway with 3.27's as well as 4.10's. This will always be a never ending debate, but any N/A 2v needs a steep gear.

i dont have the money for new tires atm do you think i should go with 3.73 then once get money tires then go back and put 4.10s in

I got the Accufab 75mm plenum/tb . I wanted something I felt looked nice and was chrome (because Shiny!!!)

as for HP gains i only noticed a surge of power when i floor it. like at 3 or 4k rpms you would feel a bump in power. other than that i have no idea if I am getting more power or speed or whatever... Its just a feeling.

Get what you like dude seriously. depending on brands / looks / power they are all pretty much the same give/take 1 to3 hp

Your car isn't going to trap higher than 114 in the 1/4. Go with 4.10's. I promise you that you will love them.

And what I meant by saying "if a person is serious about racing, they won't be on stock size tires", is that if a person is trying to absolutely see how fast their car can go, they are not going to be on stock size tires. More like a 26" or 28" slick or DR.
