Im finally going to bite the bullet and put a forged shortblock in the car...anyone know of any for good price? Quality being more important than price but a lower price doesnt hurt :nice:

Build your own. Upgrade the rods and pistons, freshen seals, bearings, rings and fasteners and re-use the crank.

MMR has good deals on Manley pistons ($699) and rods ($599)...

mmr actually sells entire kits to build a bottom end; pistons, rods, crank, bearings, rings, etc. depending on your application. if you want it already built, im pretty sure that mmr has the best prices around.

post what kind of power it makes when you get it in

It will be going with ported heads and blower cams! The eaton is maxed out as it sits right now! Ill have about 4k to spend and i just spent 2300 on the shortblock. Anyone know of a good, reputable place to port the heads and a valve job? If the setup doesnt break 550 i will be upset.

You could send your heads to MMR for their porting service as well. Pricing doesn't seem too bad to me.

As for making 550, you gotta remember that full bolt-on ported Eaton Cobra's are barely making that with the 4v heads. Good luck with it!

Exactly why the eaton MIGHT not be going back on :nice: Im also thinking about twisted wedge heads but we will see how much the IRS wants to take from me this year! IRS doesnt = independent rear suspension either LOL
