consider yourself lucky. these are pics of how my $3500 shortblock arrived. this is exactly how it sat when i arrived to pick it up. this is after the freight company lost it for 5 days. over $1000 in damages, freight company refused to pay for it. so i got bent the hell over.

I don't know about you guys but when I'm ordering something expensive or fragile I always ask how it will be shipped and I'll tell them what is needed on my end.

I told Probe this would be delivered to home, I didn't have a pallet jack, there was no way I could get it off a truck. Basically ship it to my house and put the pallet in my garage is what I told them. They said, no problem they ship to houses all the time. To my surprise it over packed in a wooden crate, shrink wrapped and bolted the pallet. Couldn't be happier.

I'm surprised LMS is pretty good. It must have been a drop shipment from another company.

I dont think it was drop shipped, because the employee i spoke with said he will talk to their warehouse manager about packaging my new order better. Tracking shows it shipped from their home city in TX as well. The good news is that the new order shipped and should arrive Friday. I have never had any previous problems with LRS, but Ive only ordered small items in the past. I'm not trying to rub their name through the mud, they shipped a replacement order the very next day without me having to bitch very much. I was just very surprised with it, given their great reputation.

Looking at that pallet I would say it was dropped alright. The packing does not look to be the best but who knows how much of it may have been removed by the shipping company after the "mishap". Even so all the engines I have received have been shipped cratted in a wooden box.

Hey guys,
I just want to follow up on this issue. We would never ship anything out of here that we did not think was package sufficiently . We sell a ton of those short blocks and very rarely have an accident like this occur. The shipping companies wreak havoc on the pallets during shipping and it appears that it what happened this time. This, unfortunately, we can't always control.

Nick, we apologize greatly for this. I have already shot you a PM this morning and we will get you taken care of to the fullest extent.

Once it leaves LRS building it's in the shipper's hands to deliver the product in a specific manner. Sometimes things get lost or broken. In the end it's getting taken care of which is the most important to the consumer.

Justin, I appreciate your involvement. As long as the second engine arrives in good shape, I have no issues. Things do happen. I just suggest a box around it, maybe even labeled fragile, so that shipping companies know to handle with care.

I agree that this is an issue with the shipping company and not with LRS. Once the pallet is in the hands of the shipper, God only knows how it is handled and that is a circumstance LRS has no control over. The customer service at LRS, in my experience, is rivaled only by Summit in the performance parts world. They have always taken care of me when there's been an issue, ship lightning quick, and bend over backwards to help. I see here once again they're making things right. They could easily bounce this back to the shipper's insurance company and have you waiting in limbo for claims to be filed. Instead, they're handling it the way any of us would want it to be. World class operation in my opinion.

We really appreciate the kind words guys. This thread actually started a pretty big discussion on how to pack all truck freight orders better and things will be changing quickly to make that happen.

As always, we are here for you guys, that's what we do. If you guys weren't here, we wouldn't be either. Thanks for the support.

I worked the shipping 'docks' for a few years before going off to school and then every summer after - these guys are not 'brain surgeon's' ....they move crates on skids quick (all of the shipping sits in the middle of the dock) then it's packed to each truck destined for a particular city or hub....skids 'fly' off of the mover/ fork lift....sometimes unless it's marked clearly they try to stack them and boom it's fallen over and then they try to 'jimmy' it ....fix it up ......so the better prepared an object is.... the better (like bolting it to the center and heavy wrap) it will ship.......

I worked a union dock - we moved everything - small air plane wings - boxed furniture etc ...I was very surprised when we got lunch at midnight (worked nights / 1st night) ....when I went to white castles (only thing open) ....and came back to the parking lot ....the guys I worked with had a case of beer among them...they drank their 'lunch'....everynight......now this was 20 + years ago the stockyards of Chicago so I'm sure it's not the norm....I'm just saying dock workers are a rough bunch .....pack and label the heck out of any large bulk shipping ....you'll be way better off .....

I totally agree and will also add Jegs to the list, they have been good to me and my friends for many years also. although when it comes to my motor build keeping it local will be my route and Dez racing will do mine.

I've bought stuff from y'all before too, and been very pleased as well. Actually this surprised me, and working on large mechanical equipment for a living I have a suggestion-

When we pack up or ship ANY heavy precision machined equipment it is banded to a pallet (if not crated) With STEEL BANDING on a stout oak pallet. I couldn't help but notice the plastic banding on the engine in the photo, and even if the pallet weren't damaged there's no way that plastic banding will hold. Not with the weight of a shortblock on a truck in a panic stop. When we do choose to band down equipment, we use shreads of cardboard under the bands as softeners against machined surfaces to prevent scuffs or scratches.

Hope this helps!

Justin ....I have a set of new LX tail lights (complete assembly) on my x-mass 'wish' list from you guys ....and after reading through the posts ....it's def gonna happen ...hook Nick up ...there's nothing better than a company who 'stands' behind what they sell ..........I won't give my $ to just anyone.....
