I haven't been on in a while. I have been busy the last month or so making arrangements and preparring to build a Factory Five Roadster. I am using my 95 GTS as the donor.:D

I hated to have to tear it apart but I have always wanted to build one of these cars, and I finally have the chance to do it.

The roadster kit is supposed to be completed on Nov 5, so I have been busy stripping all the performance parts off my Mustang. I just about have it down to the shell now.

It will probably take a couple years to complete the car, but I think this will be very rewarding and time well spent!

Take care to all, and I will still come on here once and a while to see whats up. After all, the roadster will still have the heart of a Mustang:D

one of my best days was the day I finally said goodbye to my mustang.

That's a nice project you are starting. I looked into old ski nautiques with windsor motors to keep my 5.0 modding alive but opted for my current project 3 years after selling the mustang.

why don't you just start a build thread on stangnet?

a couple of pics from my frame off restoration process....

you are living my dream. please keep us posted from time to time

peace

Did some tuning on a FF5 Cobra with a Vortech on it.... Was a hoot to drive. Wouldn't mind one myself.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress. Got any color scheme in mind???

This is something I have dreamed about for about 15 years, pretty much since Factory Five started.

I am thinking some kind of dark blue right now, but it is way too early in the game to settle on that yet. With my schedule, this is likely going to be at least a 2 year build. I am going to concentrate on getting the engine in and running first so it is not laying around. I am thinking 360 rwhp in a 2200 lb car is going to be scary fast:D

Good luck on your project. I'm doing a similar project right now for a customer. Body work is a nightmare. This ones getting a 427/6speed.

sorry for the crappy, dusty cell pic

I sold the rolling chassis today, a guy from Indiana came and picked it up. He plans on putting his twin turbo 408 in it :nice:

It was kind of surreal watching it leave tonight after all the work I put into it :(

I am sure he will have it back up and running soon and back to it's glory!

Awesome!! Seen a couple on the road while in Memphis. What's gonna happen with the shell?
BUY IT CHRIS!
I just put it up for sale today. Hopefully it will be gone quickly to make room. The body and interior are clean so I shouldn't have a problem selling it.

Sad to see a clean 94-95 be used as a parts car for the FFR Cobra, but it's still a cool project. I'd be tempted to use a rusted out $500 Fox that I picked up off Craigslist though.

Believe me, it was hard for me to do it too :(

I tried to sell it but was not going to get anywhere near enough out of it. And then I would have to buy a new engine, rearend, brakes, etc.

This way I kept all my good stuff, and selling the performance parts I could not use and the shell, I will still end up with well over 3000 for the car, about what a stock 95 goes for.

On the FFR forum, it sounds like a lot guys go the rusted out Fox route and end up regretting it because they end up spending alot more money reconditioning everything. I also thought hard about going that way, but couldn't find a donor car for cheap or in the condition I wanted.

Anyways, she's off to her new home and the guy that bought her sounds like he is going to take real good care of her! Now I am just waiting for the BIG truck to show up, should be this week sometime :D

you have no idea how bad i want one of those!
has it already been painted? looks awesome!

I think I will have to build one of these at one point in my life. What does the setup run without the motor tranny and rear?

That is the gelcoat. The seams all need to be finished also.

Go to the Factory Five Racing website for the pricing. You can get the base kit for as low as 12990. But there are a lot of options available, so that can drive up the cost.

All told, I am looking to have about 25K into it when it is done. I am sure that will creep up on me though
