Im going to purchase this kit for my 1990 lx and was wondering what anyone could tell me about their experiences and WHAT WHEELS WILL WORK WITH IT ON THE FOX CHASSIS??

Thank

Does your car have 94+ spindles on it? Because that kit will not work with the stock 1990 stuff.

I know that the regular 13" rotors require 17" wheels, I don't know if those 4 piston Brembos take up more room or not.

Yes, I have the 94 spindles and 04 Cobra rack. Ive seen a couple of 18in wheels that may clear teh caliper, but when the car is lowered I wonder if the 18 x 8 wheel may be too big and rub.

If you run a tire no bigger than 245-40 R18 in the front, it shouldn't be much of an issue. I run a 245-45 R17 up front without much problem, and I have an '86, which supposedly has smaller wheel wells. A 245-45 R17 is going to have roughly the same outer profile as a 245-40 R18.

By the way, why are you interested in those brakes? Those are some very serious pieces. The regular Cobra 13" fronts have gobs of stopping power (that's what I run).

What are you doing with your car that you need those kind of brakes? Or do you want them merely for looks? For a street car I always recommend picking the rim and tire size before worrying about brakes and axles.

Im close to Lime Rock Park in CT and I plan on doing some drivers education and club events there. I want to show those Corvettes and camaro my taillights!

I had ordered the Cobra set up, but after reading they can fade after a few hard laps, I changed my mind. For a few hundred dollars extra, I prefer to just get the next step up.

Well if that's the case. To be honest, i would ditch that kit as well and follow suit with a Wilwood product or something a little higher in class. You can never have too much brake. As far as street cars go, Cobras are suitable.

On a fox LX, the cobra brakes are more than adequate with a lighter chassis. The performance gain of the Brembos from the cobra r kit doesn't add a whole lot beleive it or not. They both still use the same rotor, and with cooling ducts and good pads you may not even notice a difference unless you are doing some serious a-spec sedan racing. I know plenty of guys racing hard with cobra brakes. Good fluid, cooling ducts and pads make the difference.

how much seat time do you have? its all about taking the car to the limit and learning the car. then improve performance. if it your first time out stock 94 stuff may even be suitable.
