I have been doing a lot of purchasing lately for the stang and was curious on how you guys source the best deals for parts, big or small.

I use Google Shopping. It finds the best deals based on hits, then can order them for you from least TOTAL (shipping included) cost. Sometimes the big websites such as SummitRacing and Jegs cost $10-$15 more on just a $50 item shipped to your house.

I also found, searching by the part number helps even better, compared to just an explanation (ex. 9mm Ford Racing Spark Plugs).

What is your idea or tip?

Utilize the flat rate shipping from 50resto. Order everything you need at once from LMR and save big on the shipping. The flat rate even applies to wheel and tire combos that would normally cost $40+ a piece to ship on the low end. Make a paper list, then use the Wishlist feature to gather up all of the parts you think you'll need over a span of a few weeks, then add them all to your cart at once. Meh, that's my painfully obvious pearl of wisdom for the day.

Thanks for the tip.

In my experience with ordering with 50resto, there prices are higher per product than you can get them elsewhere (including shipping) so the total cost was still higher, even for big purchases. I remember, when there flat rate shipping was $15.

Also, I have had real good experience with discounttiredirect.com. I get tires for way cheaper (+ free shipping!) than most places and to my door in 2-3 days. I could easily save $100-$300 compared to most tire shops, including the mount & balance fees.

Rockauto is a good place to sort parts, but watch out for the shipping cost. Total cost is still cheaper than 95% of the places I have found.

For me, selection, availability and customer service are all much more important that getting the absolute rock bottom prices. Therefore, 50Resto and Summit get all of my internet business. Also, my local speed shop, Brad's Custom Auto, can usually meet or beat on-line prices, so I try to buy from them as much as possible.

The flat rate shipping from 50resto is no longer $15? I didn't know it went up. I guess inflation and an economy in the toilet affects everyone.

I've also had really good luck with discounttiredirect.com, their prices are awesome.

Summit get all of my business. I don't know what it is, but everytime Ive ordered something from them this year, it would be overnighted to me at flat rate. I remember I ordered a part on a friday night at 8PM and expected to see it monday or tuesday, but the part was sitting at my door step saturday morning. I have ordered 4 or 5 times since then, and its been the same everytime.

I've had great luck with the vendors on Corral. I just bought a boatload of MM items from one of the vendors and all of his prices were lower than MM's deal of the day prices for just about all the items. They also beat the mail order places too.

It's always best to buy things in "bulk". Save your pennies and buy a dozen parts at once instead of paying shipping 12 different times.

I just ordered a few weeks ago and it was around $7. I know it used to be $15, but apparently still is. I'm not sure why I got charged even less on a couple orders, several weeks apart.

I like summitracing and jegs, but I can get much cheaper prices elsewhere when I do some research. You never know when one website is having a sale on that particular item that day, hence, why I use Google Shopping.

RockAuto is typically cheaper 95% of the time and I have placed many successful orders with them.

Just do your research when you are looking at a website.

In response to the problem of "I ordered a decal and they charged me $15 shipping" complaints, 50Resto started using a sliding scale for stuff that doesn't cost that much to ship. However, if you order a cat-back or a set of wheels, you'll only pay $15.

I use the google method as well, it usually works well for me. I like Summit the best for customer service and fast shipping. I've bought from LMR, but I hate buying a $20 part and paying $14 to ship. I find the best deals at CJPonyparts, they are hard to beat with free shipping. They take a little longer with their shipments, but I usually order stuff in advance. If I have to have it quickly, then I buy from Summit.

CJ Pony and American Muscle both have free shipping. Otherwise I've found some KILLER deals on Craigslist. Just the other day I found brand new in the box MM Full length sub connectors powdercoated for $75. Try ordering that from a website! haha.

If I have to buy new then summit or 50resto gets my money. Other than that I troll the classifides. Patience and sometimes a wilingness to drive an hour away can pay off.

+1 for 50resto, discounttire, & american muscle. reliable companies and good prices. I also patrol the stangnet & corral classifieds. Lots of good deals to be found their if your patient. I recently picked up a MGW shifter for only $100 shipped here. Thank you Stangnet!

I wait for someone to give parts away on Corral. I bought some AFR 205s with 1.6 rr for 1650 shipped the other day. There are some NEW 225s for 1700 shipped right now. Sheesh. Some parts don't wear out, so there is no reason not to buy them used.

Hey guys,

Just to clear up any left out info on our shipping charges.....

Most orders under $100 are shipped out for $6.99.

Larger orders like mentioned above, it is $14.99.

Obviously there are some issues trying to charge a guy 14.99 to ship him some decals so that is done away with as well. Another note is we will generally match any advertised price/free shipping offer out there for you guys. We also offer you a 5% discount with us across the board. ( The extra 5% can't be used with a price matching or sales/special items)

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Thanks

Thanks for clearing that up, Justin. I misunderstood what the OP was saying regarding the flat rate shipping policy. How do we redeem our 5% member discount? I remember reading a long time ago that we use our StangNet username as the discount code? Is that correct?
