Looking around the web for basic horsepower upgrades for my mustang the choices seem vast....so i turn to the membership here...as far as tunes go it seems that BAMA is the top for tunes. CAI seems to be a toss up between Airraid and C&l since they are around the same price range. However when it comes to exhaust its a toss up...i know my v6 wont ever sound like a v8 but i would like aggressive sound with no drone and some HP gain....any thoughts..the car is stock otherwise.

Flowmasters is my preference, but with that said youtube is a great tool actually. Type in v6 mustang exhaust and listen to some sound clips

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting, OP!

Congrats on your new V6! They are great platform to start from and we have found that the best first three modifications for these car as as follows. For the intake, I would highly recommend the Airaid Kit. It looks the best, fits the best and makes the best performance of all the intakes for the new V6. If you wanted a close second, the JLT is up there too. As for the second mod, that should definitely be a tuner to help you get the most out of the intake and your souped up V6 pony car! The third modification should be some FRPP sport mufflers. Of all the mufflers I have heard on the new V6, they are above and beyond the best sound/fit/price. They would be my only personal choice if I had the V6. They sound fantastic when you are on the throttle, but not so overbearing that on the highway you will want to plug your ears up.

Check around youtube for sound-clips if you'd like, but I have recommended the FRPP sports to hundreds of people all of them have been very pleased with the result. Well, I assume that because none of them have come looking for me to rip my head off! lol.

I hope this helps! If you need any more advice/input on what to get, be sure to check out our projectV6 as it is still currently the Fastest new-age V6 on the planet! If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to PM me directly!

I purchased the Airraid CAI and bama tune from AM. Currently I am only running the 87 octane street tune as it is winter and we have snow on the ground haha. The intake itself though is quite impressive. It seems to be built to last with high quality plastic and excellent fit. Moving on to performance, there is a decent gain throughout the rev range but it really opens up over 3500. One thing that really surprised me was the noise difference. I didn't expect an intake to change the sound like it did. Under partial throttle below 3000rpm, it sounds significantly throatier and higher in the rev range it just screams. Before the intake I was thinking of purchasing the magnaflow competition cat-back system but now I'm worried it may be obnoxiously loud in my neighborhood.

i have a 2012 kona blue v6, 6spd with the performance package, and my first upgrades were an airraid cai and some flowmaster axle backs, i'm very happy with both mods and i did tons of research to find which ones i liked the best, the intake looks awesome, sounds great and is really priced well, my favorite thing about the intake is it looks factory when you pop the hood, and as for the flowmaster exhaust it wasn't about hp but how it sounds, i listened to all the exhausts and the flowmasters just have the best overall muscle car tone in my opinion, you can make your own, i have a clip of both new but the exhaust does break in nicely after you drive it a bit, let me know what you think, here is a link to the youtube video
