After a few weeks of reading in the forum what were the best gears for my stang, i decided to go with 4.10 and i have to say that i think it was the best decision, the car feel like i have 300 HP ! but i don't have the tunner, so my speedmeter is off, yesterday i was driving 130mph but i dont think that was the right speed, Does anybody know by how much my speedmeter is off ? ? Thanks.

well i have the 4.30 in mine and at 70mph im actually running 57 mph. but it only gets farther out of wack the faster i actually go. all i can tell u is to have sumone run at normal speed limits for u so u can get a round about idea.then its just memorizing them until u can get it corrected.

If your current tune is set up for OE 3.27 gears your speedo is going to be reading ~1.254x too high. So if you saw an indicated 130MPH you were actually going 130/1.254 103.7MPH.

Just remember it's not only your speedo that's out. You are also racking up odometer error, piling up miles you're not actually putting on the car so it's in your interest to get the correction done sooner rather than later.

DanmMh and lushdog1984, why don't you go ahead and get a tuner and program the car? I saw a used tuner on Craigslist the other day for $30. And even if you buy one brand new they are def worth the price. But anyway I have to agree that I'm happy about my choice when I went to 4.10s in my 03!!

I went from automatic to 5-speed and 4:10s - 5th gear is usable around town. Changed my launch at the strip though, 1st gear is a waste of time - I use it for a ~7 second burnout but stage and launch in 2nd. If you have enough power and 4:10s you can save a little time on that shift and avoid all the 1st gear spin.

mustangjoe02, do you have an auto or manual? My 03is an auto and I drive it with 4.10s everyday...even in the rain and snow. If you have a manual then you're probably better off with 3.73s.

Yes 4.10's are useable on the street. Its a 2v, not a blown big block. I dd'd 4.30's in an 04 for a few years. Was able to pull 1.90 60 foot on true sumitomo street tires. 4.10's are the minimum gear i'd run in a 2v car (n/a of course) 4v cars need a minimum of 4.30's and LOVE 4.56's.

SQUEAK! Where the heck have you been? I don't even know you, but I have read (and used) so much advice found in your posts over the years. Good to see you back around.

I burned out big time on it all... Stepped back for a while, tinkered with my wifes cousin's car and have SLOWLY gotten the bug for it all again. We had a kid in there as well so it dried up the excess funds big time. I troll from time to time but don't post a ton anymore. Thanks for the words. It's good to see that some of my advise has been taken and used!

If you plan on S/C in the future, don't do it. Go with 373's. I trap out at about 117 mph, redline in 4th is about 122 mph, so I am perfect for the 1/4 mile. If i had 410's, I would have to shift into 5th, which is rediculous. With 410's, you ass will be handed to you by just about any 8 cyl. car out there. Cripes Camrys are running 14 3. Go ahead and shift into 4th redlined at 80 mph.....ludicrus.

If your going to run a s/c, then go 4.10's and use a 28 inch tall slick. Best of both worlds, a monster on the street with stock 26 inch tires and a best at the track with great top end. The above is the worst advise ever. /thread.
