Alright my mustang will be seeing it's first road trip since i got her in July. I never used the GPS from the sync from what I'm told I will go to a website and input my start and final destination and it will tell me when to turn from the speakers in the car. Is there anything I should know/beware of for this?

youre talking about the nav that doesnt have the actual nav screen correct? be sure you have your phone thats connected via BT to Sync, then you can hit the voice button on the wheel and say services, then say directions and it will prompt you to say where you want to go, no need to use a computer even though you can

Yeah, this techno stuff just to confusing for myself....I ended up just going with the good ole google maps and following road signs

LOL, I was hopeing to find out from your thread if it was worth the effort. I guess I will have to just try it and see.
I'm guessing it will be confusing the first time but after that will get easier....If you got one of those hi tech phones with the internet and all I'm guessing it will be easier for you than me since I phone is outdated (but serves it's purpose well).

its really easy, I use mine quite often and I never bother with a computer

1. connect your phone via blue tooth
2. hit the voice button on the steering wheel
3. say services (at which point she'll ask whay type of services you want
4. say directions
5. she'll what address etc.

Hey everyone - I'm part of the In-Vehicle Technology Team and I'm new to this forum. It's great to see all your feedback and helpful tips!

Besides accessing SYNC Services from inside the vehicle, like blown1989saleen said. You can set up save points in your SyncMyRide account. For example, you might create and save two address points called Home and Work. For more info, check out:

Otherwise, you can send directions to your vehicle using MapQuest or Google Maps. Here's how to do so:

If anyone has any questions, let me know. Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the links, Jaclyn! :)

If I alter the route used in Google Maps, will the new route get sent to the Sync system? Some of the "default" routes that they come up with are not the most "efficient", nor "preferred". ;)

Update- Just planned a route on Google Maps, and the only option I see is to "Save To My Maps", I don't see a "Send" option anywhere?

Okay, I planned the route in Mapquest and found the Send option. I also noticed the "Disclaimer" that the "SYNC" route may be different than the Mapquest route...

I know I'm a little late to the thread, however, I will say if you have a southern accent, it's not as user friendly. And if your trying to get directions while driving, road noise will not help you out at all. You'll have to pull over. I have used it several times and it works well. You just have to be patient.

LOL. I have this exact experience. 2 or 3 nights ago my son and I were playing with it. It became all confused, kept asking us to repeat, read back how it understood us...it was laughable...an' ah ain't got no suthun' yaccent...! My only comment to my son was that I'd be irate if I were having to pay for the service. It's my understanding that the free service is for one year only. It's not getting any of my cash when May 7, 2012 gets here!!

We've noticed from time to time that this feature is not available through Google maps. However, that problem is on their end and not ours.
If you get off track during the course of your trip, the system will notify you and ask if you want to recalculate the route.

If anyone has additional questions, shoot me a PM.
