Granatelli vs. MM K-member?? any thoughts, opinions?

I'm not here to bash any other companies products, but IMO one shouldn't cheap out with suspension components. Not when your safety, the safety of your passengers, and the safety of other people on the road are at stake. The advantage of buying MM products is no-one, and I mean NO-ONE will deny that they are excellent well engineered parts that will outlast the life of the vehicle.

How long do you plan on keeping you vehicle? FWIW, the Grenatelli k-member costs around $450, while the MM k-member costs around $650. If you aren't going to keep the car long, why bother buying a k-member in the first place? OTOH, if you're planning on keeping your car for a long time, the extra $200 spent on a high quality critical suspension components seems worth it, don't you think?

That $200 gets you a part that has zero reported failures from a highly recommended company with an impeccable reputation. The other thing to keep in mind is suppose you do experience a failure with the inferior unit? How much money or time would it cost you to replace it? For me, I'll take the piece of mind knowing I have parts that are engineered to exceed the factory specifications of my car. I'll choose MM every time. It may mean I don't get to go shopping for parts as often, but at the end of the day I know I have parts that will last the life of my vehicle, will perform flawlessly, and if I'm ever in an accident (God forbid) I have parts that may protect me and my passengers from harm.

You're entitled (obviously) to make your own decisions, best of luck to you :nice:

One you buy everything from MM the kit is around $1600. The GMS kit is a little more then half that.

Haven't priced complete kits out, but the basic k-members have a price difference of $200. Regardless based on my experience I'd still choose MM hands down. Might have to save my money longer but so what.

I think you are a little off on your pricing. The MM k with a arms will set you back about $1000. $650 for the K and $350 for the A arms. You can go to a few places that offer their stuff and save maybe $50-100. Now go take a look at Jegs and you will find that the GMS platinum series K is only $400 and I think they have a deal with $10 shipping. So thats actually a savings of more then %50. You can get the complete kit (minus bump steer) for like $650 or so from summit. Thats a savings of about $1000 over the MM pieces.

You can't use stock a arms with the MM kit. So you have to buy arms, coil overs, and CC plates.

You all obviously have the right to spend money on whatever part you want. It appears that we all agree MM sells top of the line products. Therefore, like said earlier OP can do the research and make his own decision.

Regardless, I wouldn't buy car seats for my kids that had a series of bad reviews just like I wouldn't buy suspension components that had a series of bad reviews. Your life, the life of your passengers, and the life of other motorists depend on the integrity of your cars brakes, suspension, tires, wheels, etc... why risk it?

Yes the only thing i wont have to buy are the CC plates, big diff in cost, also... kinda digging the delrin bushings, my brother uses them in his C6 coilovers, and theyre supposedly the latest/greatest, hoping to avoid the annoying squeaking lol, It will most likely be a game time decision. right now leaning toward MM's

If it were only $200 dollar difference, i wouldnt have bothered all of you guys lol!

Read my post above. Its a lot more then just 200

yes Darkside i know, if it was only a $200 difference, id go with MM's, thats the only reason im considering GMS, its more like a $1,000 difference between the two, 1,700 for MM's and $700-$800 for GMS, and if the platinums are even 80% as good as the MM's it would be worth the saving for me.

If you run the GMS stuff I would deffentely look into getting some MM coilovers. The GMS coilovers use a sleeve that just slides down on the strut where as MM uses a sleeve that rides on a blocker ring that is torqued in place. Hands down MM has a much much better design. GMS has actually had at least one failure of that sleeve that is documented. Either way you will need new struts because your stockers can hanlde coil over spring rates.

Is he actually selling K members again? I know he had that artical in MM&FF a while back but when I checked his site I didn't see any for sale. Honestly I think the Kenny Brown K lacks bracing and interlocking support.

Edit. Well I guess he is shipping K's again. Yikes 750 fo the k and 550 for the arms!

The k member price isn't too bad but $550 for control arms?? Eff that.....

Kenny Brown is another great company that I wouldn't hesitate to buy products from. Like MM, KB's suspension components have been proven on the race course and if you've ever had the privilege of seeing KB suspension components up close you'll notice the same attention to detail and high quality welds.

Get your reading done while you can, because that revisionist-memory thief of intellectual property J.R. Granatelli is swinging his sponsorship around and having posts edited and locked, and that's the first time in the history of that website anybody's succeeded in doing that. So much for objectivity.
