I have an 07' GT w/22k on it - it 'sits' alot - I've read through alot of forums - so I think I know how to flush it - either buy the flush kit from prestone or pump water through it while it's running- question - never did it before -

If I flush it with water can I just use the hose w/tap H2o - and then when I'm doing the 50/50 mix just use/add the distilled water?
Also - I assume there's a drain at the base of the radiator - is this correct (forums show one for 99-04) - I have a ford manual and will look at the car but?

I'd like to clean the reservior tanks out - do I have to remove them or will they naturally turn back 'clear' with the flush?
If I leave the cap off - will this clear the air pockets out - burp the car as everyone is speaking about?

Yes, you can use tap water for the flush (remove as much of this as is humanly possible when the flush is over)

You should use a flush component (buy from the parts store)

You can use something like CLR if you have a lot of scale (from using tap water in your radiator)

Yes, there should be a petcock on the radiator.

Use a few gallons of distilled water for the final flush and top off with 50/50

Use tap water in your cooling system only as a last resort and flush it out at your earliest opportunity.

Beware, don't put cold water in a hot engine for obvious reasons. Also, with the coolant still cold, the thermostat won't open so it won't flush properly unless you take that out.
